BSB Showdown - Brands Hatch - 16/17th Oct
Discussion
So the end of the season is upon us and it couldn't be closer for the top 3 going into the showdown, who is going to win it?
The racing has been brilliant this year and much more exciting than most of the MGP races, I actually got to visit a circuit again and enjoyed my 2 days at Oulton last month, I don't mind who wins this year really, O'Halloran should have had one hand on the trophy after Oulton but things didn't go quite as well as he had hoped, the races at Donnington were spoiled by the weather a bit so I'm hoping for a dry 2 days at Brands for everyone.
Can't wait to see what happens

I will be there with my 10 year old son for Saturday/Sunday and we are very excited that the championship is down to the wire.
I would like to see O'Halloran get it, given his performance over the first 3/4 of the season. It is only in the last few rounds that he has dropped off a bit.
If it's not him, then Bridewell.

Jason deserves it, in most ways, but has been fairly awful in the showdown which is a shame, I am not a fan of Mackenzie at all but he has ridden better in that bit, seems a shame to end it in such a fake way, and I doubt any of the riders like it form top to bottom, but they all handle it differently.

Heart says McKenzie
Head says O'Halloran
Opposite for me, I'd like Jason to win it, because over the season, he's been the best, yes they know the showdown, and how it works at the start, but to be 130 points or so in front, with 9 races to go, I'd like him to win.Head says O'Halloran
Taz however has momentum on his side, and he likes brands, will be confident of securing the points he needs.
All of the top 4 would be worthy champions. Personally I would love Tommy Bridewell to take it. However, he’s in 4th place so hardly starts as the favourite.
We need young riders at World Level and Tarran certainly fits that bill. With a BSB title in his pocket, this would certainly help any WSBK aspirations that he may have.
There appears to be a little negativity towards Tarran, that I don’t believe is warranted. He’s a a massive talent.

I agree. I think some people see hard riding as always unacceptable these days, but it's nothing new. He's definitely very talented as well as willing to get stuck in.I'm loving the elbows out approach - it's adding some excitement to WSBK this year too, which, in my opinion, been lacking for a few years.
I think taking people point numerous times is not acceptable to me, I get the hard racing then, but there has been an undercurrent all year from several riders that some of it goes beyond the pail. From all sorts of riders and from several sources, so I don't think it is just Tarran.
But if you are out there you have to compete, but if experienced guys like Hicky, a man not scared by much, are saying it is getting a bit daft then maybe it is.

But hard racing is nothing new, Walker and Hodgson knocked lumps out of each all season long one year.
And lets not forget that when Fogarty first switched to big bikes on the RC30, yes he won lots of races but he was particularly bullish about how he got past people. I remember being sat in Roger Marshall's pub after Carl had forcefully pushed past Nation on the Norton and a rather animated and slightly worse the wear nation was not at all impressed.
And Brookes wasn't averse to the odd bit of handlebar bashing when he first came here, so hard racing is nothing new but i don't understand why Tarran is so disliked either but there you go.

Thomas to win, the others to fall off in an over exuberant race to the first corner in each race ending up in the gravel or slide off on leaves and wet through dingle dell or stirlings through a daft overtake
what will happen one will win one, the other win the other and an outsider will win the third race meaning one will need to finish at least tenth with the other finishing fifteenth or less in rain and wet leaves strewn track

Whatever happens, it’s been a great season and I’m sure the finale will be interesting. what will happen one will win one, the other win the other and an outsider will win the third race meaning one will need to finish at least tenth with the other finishing fifteenth or less in rain and wet leaves strewn track

And you're right about Brookes. He had some serious ones: Guintoli's leg at Donnington? Big one at Mallory (Si Andrews, I think, plus a load more)? Rutter's arm at Cadwell?
I think it was Jim Whit who said, "well it's not knitting, is it..." when someone asked about the hard moves a few seasons back.

Walker and Hodgson was very different, most of those hits and there were only really two of them were silly errors and desperate moves on the last lap.
Some of the riding now is the Marquez way of deliberate contact, which is fine for some fans and riders, but not others, I do not believe contact has any place in true bike racing, no matter who does it, it is desperate and dangerous.
It also comes in a little bit from motocross where it is fairly well established as a fair deal and move right the way through the classes, which it is at 5mph in a block pass, but not at 80 into a turn on a race track.
