Offroad bike stag do ideas/advice/experiences?
Discussion
I've been given the honour of being best man at a friend's wedding.
He's wanting to do some motorcycle type thing, with the ideal being off road. Motocross bikes are what I think he was going for, although trials and adventure days are also options.
Im not convinced its the best idea, but it's what he's after. Maybe half of us have bike experience, and that's being optimistic. The mate in question races 600cc with Thundersport, and myself and one other have done races/trackdays and some others have their own road bikes. The other half of the group though, haven't ever ridden a motorcycle. Worth noting that none of us have off road experience.
Without paying £50 for something inevitably very tame, or paying £300+ for something hardcore that many won't enjoy, does anyone have any suggestions that might fit somewhere in the middle, ie: easy for beginners but with a bit of free reign for the other half?
Google has helped, but doesn't give a real feel. We're in the Wiltshire area, so something within a few hours ideally, but outside that isn't too much trouble.
Thanks for anything you can give!

The Yamaha off road experience is in mid Wales and is excellent.

Also there is a Honda version that may be closer to you

I’m going to Dave Thorpe Honda next year with a group of mates where maybe half have ridden before. When I was planning it I contacted Dave Thorpe Honda.
Basically they said they are set up for novices; they have some 125cc bikes for beginners, they can split you up into mixed ability groups because they will have about 3 instructors to look after up to 16 riders.
The beginners will get tuition in how to operate a bike in the first part of the day then be taken out once they are ready.
I think if you can get a group of 10 you get a bit of a discount.

We had a stag weekend around Newmarket and went to Wildtracks off roading on mx bikes https://www.wildtracksltd.co.uk/
A few people had never ridden bikes before and they had a great time learning on 125cc bikes on the beginner/kids circuit.
We hired bikes shared between 2 people as it tiring if you are not used to it. A few laps of the circuit are enough in one session, even then by lunchtime there were bikes standing around whilst people had a break chatting. I guess the previous evenings drinking didnt help

Was just about to suggest this - loads of good pubs in the town for a quick meal afterwards and easy to get the train back to Manchester to get absolutely slaughtered afterwards as well.https://inchperfecttrials.co.uk/

Not used these guys but friends have and really recommend it. May be too far away though. https://www.mickextanceexperience.com/ and set in stunning countryside.

Not too far down the road from me, I've heard very very good things indeed though.ouninpohja said:

I did the dave thorpe experience in July and it was excellent.
I did the 2 day course and had never been off road before but by the end of the 2 days was going acroos rivers, through mud and steep inclines.
I would recommend you hire the gear as you will get very dirty, sweaty and knackered.

If some haven't ridden a bike then they are probably going to have a frustrating day or at best you'll be broken into two separate groups
I'd try to steer him to off road karts so everyone will be in the same group and similar ability
I did the Mick Extance day and was disappointed, organised by an idiot so I thought we were going to be covering 100 miles of Welsh countryside but what we did was maybe 30 miles of obstacles with lots of waiting around, so get a clear idea of exactly what they offer (to be clear, I blame the idiot organiser not the venue)

You are going to have one half the group struggling with clutch control from the get go. It's going to be a crap day out for them. The other half of the group though, haven't ever ridden a motorcycle

Plus you are all going to be knackered and in bed by 8pm unless you have some bolivian marching power on hand.
Go mountain biking.

A few places like the one I posted use electric trail bikes so there is no issue for novices regarding clutch control or gearboxes, which makes the day a lot easier.Plus you are all going to be knackered and in bed by 8pm unless you have some bolivian marching power on hand.

I tried Inch Perfect at the ABR - I was bored inside 2 minutes, the guy even turned the power up when I bought it back early - electric just isn't the same IMOJazoli said:
