My MT07 has a rust problem. I've had a chat with a helpful restorer who said the most cost effective approach would be to go to a detailing firm that offers rust treatment as part of their service.

Does anyone know of such a firm in the East Midlands/Derbyshire/South Yorkshire area?

Thanks.

Not many detailers do bikes never mind rusty ones.

What exactly is rusty? If it’s nuts and bolts etc. Get new ones from Pro Bolt.

If it’s frame etc. you’ll need someone who repairs crash damage IMO.

If you could find a detailer willing to give it a go it wouldn’t be cost effective and would likely come back again.

not a detailer job imo...

as said either replace rusty parts with new or tke them off for powdercoat or paint

An MT-07 having a rust problem must be a bit disappointing - they're not that old. Unless you're at the seaside. Unfortunately you have to treat rust rather than polish it out. Would help if we knew which bit it was?

As others have said its generally not a job a detailer will pick up. BUT ....

Give Paul at Deluxe Detailing in Darlington a call and he will give you some honest advice on how best to proceed. He's rides a KTM 790 himself so he will understand what you're talking about.

Feel free to tell him that Mark passed his details on to you if you like.

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated.

I've sent pics to a restorer and a couple of detailers to see what they say.

Cheers.

I deal in bikes - post up a few pics and I can tell you what I'd do (if you want to tackle it)

I replace simple bolts with stainless but it's amazing the difference a dremel clone with a wire brush makes, followed by a wipe over with ACF or a touch up with paint

If you're paying by the hour it adds up, to clean up a tatty bike can take me a full day

Where is the rust?

I'd just have any major parts powdercoated and replace the bolts with titanium or ss.
