I’m registered for next years Great Malle Rally and have started the search for a suitable bike.

I love the idea of riding on a British manufactured bike which pretty much makes CCM the only choice. Bolton is a long way from Kent so I’m keen to hear from anybody who owns one from the spitfire range. The maverick or street moto are both on my short list.

I thought they were all made in Thailand now which is why I’d discounted.

Having said that the Thornton specials look very tasty. Could be fun to do a Malle special with them.

Mate of mine has a Spitfire on order, due a few months ago, he’s still waiting, I think he said they had to refinance

The Motorcycle Barn in Milton Keynes have two in according to Autotrader. In fact their scrambler is the cheapest option. Mind you it has done a massive 1652 miles already!

...ooo, and Colchester Kawasaki have a flat tracker.

Thanks, I missed that, I think the delays on his delivery are something to do with government delays in SVA testing, it sounds like every bike has to be tested?
His was due in June, so it must put a serious dent in cash flow.

Thanks @Chicken Dinner. It's really helpful to get feedback from actual owners as I probably won't get the chance to see one in person if I do go ahead and place an order.

1. Why did you buy one and after 2yrs of ownership has it met that original aim?
2. How has the post sales experience been? Do you have to take it back to the factory for servicing? Any warranty issues? How has reliability been?
3. Does it feel special? They are clearly beautifully engineered, but I'm worried the 55hp will feel asthmatic on anything but country lanes.
4. How do you find the ergonomics? I'm 6"2 so slightly worried it might be too small.
5. Would you attempt a 1500 mile over 5 days rally around GB on one? biggrin

I'm aiming to buy something that I actually want to keep after the Malle Rally and ideally British made.

That MCN article was very interesting. Sounds like the additional investment will enable them to scale up the business for both domestic and international markets.

Saw the CCM Spitfire ad and thought Meh...then I saw one! They look the cat's whiskers in the flesh! (and sound it too)

Really reassuring after sales service is spot on. I hadn’t realised they use mobile mechanics which is actually ideal for me.

I’d dismissed the bobber due to size which sounds like the right decision.

Need to decide whether to make the trip up to Bolton or just order blind.

Hope if you do decide on one ..... you're not wanting it quick.

Long delays it seems from deposits (50%) to delivery it seems.

Got mine second hand (FT6) so didn't encounter the delay.

I have an original spitfire that is used for looking at only, I've never ridden it! could sell if you can't wait months for a new one. Delivery mileage, Ohlins fitted front and rear, Stage 1, and just about every other extra CCM supplied at the time (£6K of extras). "NOT CHEAP"

Gosh that is a stunning example! Thanks for the offer but I’m in no rush (I don’t need the bike until next summer).

I’ll give them a call next week and report back here
