Hi all, after today's absolutely, thoroughly, disgusting soaking wet commute in sunny Central London, I've decided it's time for some new gear. I've had an Alpinestars Andes suit for the last 6 years and to say it let's water in would be an understatement. The Wolf Fortidtude jacket and trousers have caught my eye as they are both laminated textile and come with decent armour. I can get the set for roughly £550. I'm not looking to spend ££££ on Rukka and the like. If anyone has this suit and can offer their opinion or suggest anything for a similar price it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would be interested to know what CE rating it gets, I personally would be looking at textiles that achieve at least CE level AA. Only klim have managed a textile suit that meets AAA, but it's currently not available and is also an order of magnitude more expensive.

A couple of other recommendations are:

Oxford Hinterland. Laminated, CE AA, protectors are level 1. ~£550

Spada Camber, Laminated, CE AA, Protectors are level 1. ~£450

The textiles I am planning to get next are the:

Sidi Alpentrophy, Laminated, CE AA, Level 2 protectors, ability to fit a back and chest protector, ~£700

But it's hard to change from my well worn textiles which fit like a glove after many years of being moulded to my shape.

Some of the more expensive laminated gear only achieves CE A ratings redface

Thanks for the reply and good point. It achieved a CE A rating but comes with D30 level 2 armour. Its the same as my current textiles. I've never really taken much notice of the CE rating of textile suits to be honest. I also understand that at my budget i can't have it all and will have to compromise somewhere. I'm not going to be travelling at anywhere near the national speed limit on my commute so I'm more concerned with weather protection including good ventilation when it's hot, comfort and decent armour to help in a low speed tumble. I've got leathers for when the speed is higher when riding for fun and not commuting. I'll check out the suits you mentioned though. They seem like decent value.

Are they not big bucks though? Always thought Halvarssons was quite expensive.

not big bucks on a par with quoted costs above £500 for a jacket £350/£400 pants

if you got last years model it would be cheaper as the range has been updated

I bought a Wolf Tec-Tour Outlast outfit fit a few years ago. It was my first ever textile jacket and was on offer from Sports bike shop, around £360 for jacket and trousers.
Having owned nothing previously to compare it with, it seemed well made, but only after a few rides you start to realize what works and what doesn't.

I found the collar "chopped" into my throat, so I had to have that altered. But the biggest draw back is the material, whatever its made off is bloody hard and ridged, I guess to give you the abrasion resistance. So its not that comfortable. I've since inspected more expensive suits in showrooms and they seem to made of a softer material, but I must assume its still good enough for the job. If there's a next time, I'll up my budget, and might even get a made to measure as I'm an awkward fit.
