I've found a PC3 for sale for my bike, but whereas most of the PC3's have a USB port for updating the maps and software, this one must be pre-USB generation.

Before I spend some money and then find updating the maps is hard or impossible, can anyone explain how you would do that, and if any tools are needed? DynoJet have the map available on their site, and for a USB PC3 it would just be a case of load map, install PC3.

Looks like you can use an RS232 adapter which supplies +9V to upload the map:

You'd need a USB-> Serial converter, I'd recommend one of these: https://www.scan.co.uk/products/startechcom-usb-to...

Not the cheapest, but I use it for work interfacing with card machines and various other hardware and it works reliably (which is key!).

Hmm, thank you. Looks quite complicated - the diagram doesn't show you how to upload the map only change settings which is a whole world of st I am best staying well away from. The aim is to improve the fueling, not let a monkey like me play with it! hehe

Without knowing what bike you have, can you not just visit a tuner and tell them what you want?

Probably, but it is cheaper for me to buy a second hand PC for £150 than take it to a tuner and get it set up individually. Especially if the maps are freely available and someone else has done the hard work.

From experience I could never get the fuelling right on my Gen.1 ZZR1400 with PC3, K&N, Scorpion System and PAIR removed.. always had lumpy low RPM and overfuelling/popping.

Took it to a pro, had the ECU flashed properly and was like a different bike.

Sorry, long time lurker around these parts! Just thought I'd pass on some potentially useful info.

If you give Dynojet UK a call or drop them an email with your bike specs and mods then they should be able to help you. They can send you an install guide for your bike, the link for the software and a guide on how to use it. They may even have a suitable map if your bike has some common mods. smile
