Second year riding, just bought a Gen1 Hayabusa.
Discussion
Thought i'd share my excitement, passed test last February aged 50, best thing i've ever done, got a K4 GSXR600
as a first bike, been great for the last 18 months although it tortures me on runs over 100 miles, also have a Ducati
Monster 696 and a Kawasaki Versys (which i'm going to sell), which i use for longer runs, also use a bike to commute
to work nearly every day when it's dry.
I know it's a marmite bike but i've always loved the Hayabusa, particularly the Gen1, fell more for them after passing
my test and REALLY getting into bikes, took the plunge and bought a gorgeous K5 on Thursday, should be delivered in the
next few weeks. Fully aware that it's a big leap from the GSXR600 to a GSX1300R but i'll take my time to get used to it,
my throttle and clutch control are pretty good, also fully aware that speed is effortless on the Hayabusa but i'm very speed
aware being an HGV driver for the last 24 years, also need to watch my license.
I'm 5'7" with a 30" leg but tried a Gen1 out for size last Sunday and it fitted like a glove, seat is surprisingly low for a big bike
tried manually wheeling it around (as i'll need to be able to turn it in my drive) and it was fine, will try and upload some pics
when i get it.

I’d maintain that the more relaxed, torquier nature of the bike will lend itself better to being sensible than say a GSX1000 for example.
Unless you’re stupid, in which case you’ll be in trouble regardless of which bike you are on, you’ll be fine, the bike only goes as fast as you make it go.

A Gixxer 600 would cause you to be much more of a tt than your new busa. You can ride a busa like you are driving a car.
That's what i figured, have been absolutely fine on the Gixxer, took me a while to get used to it as a first bike though,i'll just give myself time to get used to the big Busa.
Cheers for the comments and interest guys, will try and post up some pics when i get it, hopefully by next week.

You'll be fine and just use the torque
Hi guys, been meaning to follow this up, got the Hayabusa, due to the weather i've only done about 300 miles on it so far, it's amazing, absolutely love it, fitted a 1" bar riser which has made a big difference also got a pillion seat for it to replace the hump as being a short arse it's easier to swing my leg over it, got a rack too for carrying a bit of luggage, apart from maybe braided brake lines it's staying as it is.
