I am about to buy the bike below after a 25 year layoff from bikes.

Does anyone have any pointers I should look for ?
It's only got about 18,000 miles and looks to be in really good shape. All the reviews say these are reliable bikes with very few known issues.

Thanks for any advice?

Nice Bike. Love MGs.

Do a half day Back To Riding course with a riding school. Better to drop one of their bikes whilst you're relearning slow speed control than your new bike.

As I live in France, training will be very challenging. However, there are many English bikers around and I'm pretty sure that I can find an ex-police biker or similar for some one-to-one trainibg.

I had a friend with one of these. He did have "issues" with a leaking rear shaft seal and the replacement parts kit/seal was not something the dealer could get hold of quickly.

I know this only because it occurred a couple of weeks before a 600-800 mile tour of the North of Scotland I was meant to be doing with him. His alternative to a functioning seal was to fit a homemade "device" to mop up the leaking oil and stop it dripping onto the tyre. The shaft drive would then be topped up en route, making use of the most comprehensive on-vehicle OEM tool-kit I have ever seen.

You can guess which part of the toolkit he discovered was MIA when he opened it up to top up 200 miles into the trip in a remotish part of Scotland.

I don't think there was much else went wrong with the bike.

I've got exactly the same bike even down to colour - had it four years, with no real issues.
If you don't use it regularly, there is a parasitic drain on the battery, so at least do a short run every week or two.
Seems to be less of a problem if you remember to flick the kill switch, but I'm dumb like that!!
Mine's starting to get a bit crusty on the ali casings, particularly the final drive - I'll give it some attention this coming winter (fair weather rider). May not be a problem depending on the climate where you are.
For more information have a look here: http://www.guzziriders.org/ I find it a useful resource.
The little Breva is a perfect way to get back into biking as it's not fast by any stretch of the imagination and it's quite flickable.
Enjoy!!!

eta bits available in the UK from https://www.gutsibits.co.uk/pr/Home/index.php - I've never needed anything from them, but they've got a good rep.
