New Tyres And Valves
Discussion
Took a flat tyre & wheel to my local bike shop, it was the wrong type for the bike and had a dodgy looking repair so I asked them to fit a new tyre
Next day - flat again - I checked, the metal valve itself has become porous
Shop say that it isn't usual to check / change metal valves on bikes - is that right as it seems bloody obvious to me
They also say that there are four different widths ?
Are they right or bullstting ?

Personally I would always want a new valve.Next day - flat again - I checked, the metal valve itself has become porous

The minimal cost is far outweighed by the potential of an off if you get a rapid deflation from a faulty valve.
And yes, I know how seldom that happens, but having seen old valves at mot time that are hanging by a thread of rubber I would rather be safe than sorry.
