It’s looking like we are moving from Salisbury Plain to Pembrokeshire, looking at the local OS maps there doesn’t seem to be many byways to ride and I’m starting to think there’s not much point taking the KTM, anybody have experience of that part of the country?

Trouble is I’m spoilt where I am, out the village and onto the trails, not sure I’d be arsed to trailer it to ride.

Looking on Trailwise2 there's not a lot there.

Although it only shows 4x4 routes so there may be some more bike friendly ones

Saying that I'm in the West Mids and we regularly drive 2 hrs to get to decent welsh lanes

A decent chunk of the UK TET (Trans Euro Trail) runs around West Wales (Pembrookshire and the Brecons).

I've no personal experience of it, but have seen plenty of vids and would love to do it myself one day.

Thanks, I’ll investigate that

This is the official TRF map. Not a lot in Pembrokeshire really, but I suppose it depends where you are moving to and whether you are happy to trailer the bike. I have trails right on my doorstep, but they soon get boring, so I'm quite happy to ride else where and just use the local trails to keep my fitness up. I did a weekend riding on Salisbury Plane and to be honest most of it was a bit dull and wouldn't bother again, Wales is a definite improvement on decent trails.

Yep, you definitely need some local knowledge on the Plain, lots of the trails are wide enough for a tank!

I havnt done any down West Wales, I'm from South Wales and there are only really few around us, but there are loads up towards Lladovery and Rhyader. It'll definitely be worth the trip up and you could probably do half a dozen trips up there and not redo many lanes. A trip up to the old Roman road above Llandovery and Strata Florida is worth it on its own!

Plus if you fancy it, in normal times at least, there's plenty of racing up here, everything from hare&hounds and sprints to good old fashioned Welsh forest timecard enduros.

A newb question here, but where are you allowed to ride on wales? Being in the SE of England byways are all I know I can ride on down here, are they byways in wales or are they listed as something else?
