Helping with a garage clearance I came across this frame.
It appears to be a pre-war rigid.
Can anyone tell me what it's likely to be off?

I would be pretty certain it came off a motorcycle.

My dad says it could be a Douglas but he's not sure.

Could well be a Douglas, there isn't a lot of vertical height between the bottom rail and the tank mounting rail , which would suit a flat twin , like a Douglas.

It does seem to have rather long bottom tubes, which would be needed for the fore and aft pre-war Douglas.

The angle of the down tube is more indicative of a Vtwin. Maybe a 1930 H-D Model D.

Is there not a frame number somewhere on it?

I couldn't see any obvious number, but I'll have another look at it on Tuesday

Just from the pictures I think Gareth has nailed it,

just look at the little bracket holding the tyre pump, and the bracket on the rear downtube for the shift linkage, all there.

The angle of the down tube is all wrong.

You should send the photo and the frame number if there is one to the peeps at the National Motorcycle Museum. There must be a fair chance that they can identify it.

Does that help?

Could it be a badly manually stamped 6P, not a 6B ?

Then it might be a Douglas, see link ald scroll way down to Aero, 500/600 SV, 1936 / 37

Found a couple of pics of Douglas frame numbers.

Looks like the number was followed by a "D" with a horizontal "v" inside it.

Just to finish the thread off.
Thanks to your help in identifying it, I was able to list it on eBay. It sold today for £102
