Arrrrrghhh!!

Does anyone have a 30k unit that is NOT updating no matter what?!?!?

I've tried 2 different cables,
on 4 different laptops..
Carried out various factory resets..

and I still get the error message "the USB is broken" (no it isn't), or the update freezes!

Sick to death of them.. and SENA are no help what so ever..

It's really put me of them as a comms unit.

I just upadated my 30 to mesh first time! - must be something up with your unit. Apologies this is a useless post, but at least you know it does update successfully. Hope you get it sorted...

Yeah, that's not helping... just rubbing it in to be fair.. lol




Just spoke to the place I bought it from and since there is a 2 year warranty on them, it's getting sent back for a replacement... small inconvenience for me as I have to send everything back not just the unit..

We'll see what/if SENA say anything about it.

I was going to say go back to the shop, they should sort it fairly easily.

For future reference Feridax are the UK distributor and they may have someone who can provide more help than your average dealer.

All ours went back as they all suffered water ingress. Not fit for purpose, they're rubbish. Cardo Packtalk is a massive improvement on every level.

A mate said something like you need to use the USB cable supplied with it, the standard USB cable does not work. I cant see how this is true, but perhaps you have just hit the same issue he had?

Yeah, that is a well known "issue" with the SENA units, hence why I have 2 of their "supa mega gold wrapped unicorn jizzed" cables to use...

I don't see how they make a difference either but it's the very first thing SENA say when there are problems.

Cheeky bds, presumably they rewire the USB pins so only their cables will work... Wouldn't be too hard to reverse engineer of course, just a faff.

Not sure on sena’s reputation at the minute, but we frequently have 6-8 riders all connected on mesh, have been on tour and got soaked through with only the odd 2 minute non connection due to water ingress which is only temporary and not an issue.

Haven’t tried cardo or similar due to everyone one of us having mesh connected senas. I’m happy with mine. Battery lasts all day and it’s plenty loud enough with plugs in.

Hopefully they’ll replace your one and you’ll have no more issues.

Same, we are all on Sena mesh… when it works, it’s great..

I’m sure they’ll sort it out, will just take a few weeks.

Need to go back to my singing now and direction on a note taped to the fuel tank…

Loved my SENAs for 10 odd years now, but lately they have just been rubbish. I remember having no range problems in the Alps with 3 bikes, but now it seems a single tree between riders causes interference and true range is about 200m?. Recently bought the Pack-Talk, although haven't been on a ride with it yet.

My Sena wont update on a laptop, but plug it into a PC it updates no problem, try that.

I've got a Packtalk bold which works fine but isn't recognised by the update software - do any of you guys know if they also have to be updated with the original cables? Thanks in advance

Just to bring this to a close.

SENA have confirmed unit is broken and can't / won't be repaired.

The 30K is old hat now and they have none left.

50R now being sent out as a replacement.
