Yo, apologies if this has been covered the search function isn't the best. I've had my full licence for about 10 years and my girlfriend is starting to ride and has her own bike etc. She's doing really well and ready for her tests, but round where we are it's nigh on impossible to booked into with a school let alone a test. Looking at late Sept really by which time riding season is over cos we're both soft. She did her Mod 1 today on her 125 just for practice basically, given it's only £15 and we found a cancellation like two days ago so just went for it, and she passed.

Now then, to solve the issue of trying to find a school with a bike to borrow, waiting for a test slot, is there any way we can do the same again and find a cancellation on ridiculously short notice and she uses my 800? I can ride it to the centre and stick some plates on it, but then it's a question of being insured while she's out riding. Is there some sort of special insurance? Would make life much easier to just be able to do it ourselves.

Are you able to ride a larger engine size for MOD 2 than the MOD 1?

MOD1 and 2 must be on the same category (size band) of bike, so she can't just do mod 2 on your 800 without repeating mod 1.

I am not sure you appreciate this and plan to re-do Mod1 on a 800 or are talking about a mod 2?

Unless you have somewhere to practice, I would be seriously impressed if she could jump on an 800 and pass MOD1, without ever having ridden a big bike. (but all credit to her getting through MOD1 on her own like that - no easy task)

This is recent thread where somebody had the same insurance challenge.

Sorry confusing there, yeah she plans on doing her Mod 1 again. The one she did yesterday was basically just a practice after a cancellation popped up at the test centre, based on my belief that there’s no better practice than doing the test itself and it being so difficult to get in with the schools round this way. Plenty of space to practice on my 800 so she’s quite familiar with it already. Not a patient woman it seems.

Thanks for the link, pretty sure I’m with BikeSure so I’ll give them a ring and report back.

I think if you put her in your insurance then yes she can do the mod 2 on your bike…the problem seems to be to find a school with availability as on the website there isn’t really any issue to find mod 2 slots free
