So it goes like this. I can ride for about 1 hour 20 mins before I get numb and soreness in my arse. Once it comes its there for the duration of the ride. I can get off and walk around for a bit and it will go away for 15 mins then come back just as painful as before.
Things I've tried:

- Those sheep skin cover things (pic)
- cyclist under shorts with padding.

When combined they help a bit, but its still the number 1 huge pitfall when long distance touring on an otherwise perfect bike for it. I put it down to the combination of heat and vibrations. So as far as I can tell I have 3 options:
1. Buy a custom seat such as Mustang or Corbin for ONLY £500+ (no chance)
2. Get some kind of gel seat cover or air seat cover. Willing to pay £100ish
3. Get a pro to recover and refoam the stock seat. One such recommendation is Tony Archer:

For covers I've heard of 'CoolCovers' and 'ComfortAir', no idea how good they are, has anyone used them?

Thanks and this is the bike:

Use a pro or DIY

My KTM ergo was hideous, I just removed the staples, removed the gel and used some packing foam I had to hand, made it 10x better

I was going to use a pro but I didn't want to wait

I'll go out on a limb here but you might find the forward controls and resultant seating position is the basic issue. In that case, no seat options will resolve the issue of your posture and sore behind.
Try a longer ride on a normal type of bike to see if the rotation of your hips to feet helps alleviate the pain... If it does, you might want to get a more comfortable bike wink

Airhawk seat cushion is the answer. Don't overfill it and get a larger size than you think you need.

The owners club all say the stock seat is made with crap foam, and everyone resolved the issue in one way or another.

I'm gonna give this a go, if it makes a positive improvement I'll wait for it to break and get the more well known Air Hawk:

Tony archer does a great job. Had loads of seats done by him and been happy with every one. Not expensive either, always less than £100.

Several of my mates have new seats from this place in France....

https://www.topsellerie.com/@EN-FR/seats-petrol-ta...

They do exchange seats or you can buy outright, and they change it for gel inserts, different profiles, even heated.

I'm ordering one shortly as my 2017 R1 has the most uncomfortable seat I have ever known. It's ok for a couple of hours and then (especially if you've a heavy rucksack) it's like sitting on a sharp edged concrete block - it's pretty special.

You don't wait while they alter your seat, they send you one they've already done (bit like getting an exchange radiator or brake caliper) or you can actually just buy outright.

I feel that maybe you haven't identified the cause of sore butt syndrome, only that you have sore butt syndrome.

I have one of those sheepskin covers. Imho, it makes it a bit more comfortable, but is only a small improvement.

I'd ride around with a towel or something soft under the sheepskin (so it is held in place by the sheepskin) and go for a ride. This should help identify if adding more padding and therefore a bit more height to the seat will help or not.

I was thinking of seat reupholstery a while back, but ended up just buying a new seat. The quotes I was getting for repadding/reupholstery were about £150.

Damn - I was saving up for one of those!!!! I'm not keen on butchering the OE seat - sorry to derail thread, but any links to some better options?

I would say your best option is to get the seat re-done by a pro with more foam.

I had the same issue on my Monster, luckily I managed to get hold of an upgraded OE "comfort" seat and now I can ride for hours without any sore botty.

For some, I found they offered no help when correctly inflated.

I have the same issue with my current bike (and most of the previous ones) I have bought the comfort seat, swapped it for a custom one, removed the foam and fitted a gel pad, removed the gel pad and fitted memory foam, fitted a sheepskin cover and none of them have worked to give me more than a couple of hours comfort, I simply don't bother riding the bike any more than that now because of it, dammed annoying, oh well at least the mileage will be low when the pcp ends.

How far did you inflate it?
Maybe you need to get a fatter arse, so Domino's weekly will fix that. I have the same issue, most people who have my bike complain of tailbone discomfort, I don't get that, I get sitting bone discomfort, in other words the big bones in each cheek. Nothing helps pad those better than bodyfat.
