Another what bike for £3.5k ish
Discussion
I would like to get something around £3.5k. The more frivolous part of me suggests just getting a monkey and using it the best I can.
The more sensible side says a Honda Hornet but they are old and I need something that I can use in the ULEZ without paying a charge everytime I do. I know I don't very often, but sods law I will get something that doesn't meet the regs and it will end up going into the zone more often.
Tracer 700s are too expensive.
Want to stick to Japanese and preferably something upright, that will take a top box and has the potential to have a centre stand.
NC750s discounted as not enough fun, but the 500x maybe an option.
thanks

Loved my 675 and would highly recommend it. I also love my 765, but it doesn’t have the same sentimental value as the 675. Be wary though as they are the most stolen bike, so premiums can be higher than others.
MT07 seems like a good shout, lightweight, cheap to run and make a nice noise.

VFR or CB500x - the latter is very frugal, easily giving 75mpg on motorway runs, and the comfortable upright position with wide bars is ideal for daily commuting. Values have remained high even for 2015 era bikes but there are a few good private sale deals around - with topbox, heated etc.
The owner group on socialmedia is a good place to look for one.

Going to check insurance premiums later today on the Street triple.
I have had one when I was younger (10 years ago) and fancy one again.
Most of my riding is day outs (about 100-200 miles) and I want to do some touring this year (dont we all?). The striple is a more emotional choice than the tracer 700 or a vstrom 650, but emotional choices have always cost me a lot more financially and been a more stressful ownership journey!

Street triple all day long
I have one and it's brilliant. The only thing it doesn't do very well is long periods at sustained higher speeds like on dual carriageways.
Prices have really firmed up and they're £3.5k now for an early one.
I picked up an early underseat exhaust one, but with newer (non-round) headlights, which i prefer, fitted. Also has genuine triumph louder cans fitted. Decent condition for less than £3k last year.
