Gsxr link: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-GSXR1000-GSXR-10...

I've seen this gsxr 1000 for sale its priced quite low but its missing service history and it was last MOTed in 2018.

I phoned the garage they said I could purchase a year's warranty for £200.

Is it worth buying or should I avoid?

Another one, slightly lower mileage. https://www.motorcyclefinder.co.uk/motorbike/2015-...

Folk buy bikes and never use them, that’s a fact.

At that mileage it’s only missed the 600 mile service which is basically just an oil change. If the bike I linked to above has had that done I’d obviously prefer that one but it’s not a deal breaker.

Buy it, service it and ride it.

Even if it has only had the first service with that low mileage it will be fine. It is out of warranty I wouldn't pay to service it either (would DIY).

Lack of service history wouldn’t bother me but I don’t recall seeing another one of that generation in that colour scheme. It may therefore have been painted.

Lack of bar ends also raises an eyebrow.

It’s got a bit of a track bike vibe to me.

The 600 mile service, when the oil used for running in the engine is changed? £8k for this year is silly money imo. Spend a bit more and get the much better GSX-R1000R.

The red one looks like a much better buy.

The first has actually missed 6 services, the break in plus the yearly service which Suzuki specify regardless of mileage. Whether that’s necessary or not nowadays is debatable, but if I was spending that much money in a bike I’d want a FSH, whether that’s from the dealer or the owner. Either would be fine.

Plus it only comes with one key. Makes it harder to resell later down the line.

Angle of the brake & clutch levers also indicate that it’s been fiddled with prior to part-ex’ing.

Could be track use (check normal stuff - wheels for multiple tyre changes, tyre date codes, brake disc working area etc etc) but I’d guess at some bar raisers / helibars or similar have been ineptly put back to standard as bloke finally realised he’s slightly too old & fat to ride it - hence the low mileage.

Eta. Spend a bit more and get a nicer 2016 onwards model maybe?

Just an update, I actually did a reg check and the original colour was blue so I believe the fairings have been changed, bike most likely was a track bike so I think I will pass this one frown

I'd add that "bought" aftermarket warranties are rarely worth the paper they are written on IME they generally exclude "wear"

Not much spontaneously breaks, if it does it's usually because another part was worn - so it's excluded
