As a counter to the regrets thread, anyone had an unexpected amount of happiness with their new purchase?

Mine happened earlier this year. I'd been procrastinating over what bike to buy for a couple of years and a v2 Tuono had been on the list during that period, I posted some questions on here.

Come January and an ebay auction for a final MY (2011) model was running but was 200 miles away and as it was during the lockdown period I was unable to view. I put a bid in that I wasn't going to win, or so I thought.

Money transferred, courier arranged and the bike turns up. New tyres, Chain Sprockets and MOT sorted and all is good, first track day a week ago. I can't stay off the thing.

The £1000 ex. track ZX7R which turned into a London commuter. Faultless reliable and not too bad comfy wise either!

Never regretted any bike I've bought, made profit on every one I've sold. My current FZS600, paid £1150 for it and it's great after I put an R6 shock on it.

I’ve just purchased a SV650 to do the daily commute on, I last had one of the older models a good few years ago and had forgotten what great basic bikes they are. I tried out a few of the competitors incl the new Trident and still ended up purchasing the cheapest and ‘oldest’ designed bike.

My current bike, a 2015 Bonneville has gotten under my skin like no other bike I have ever owned and I have no idea why. Every now and then, I think about selling it and going back to another big bore adventure bike but as soon as I start it up and spend an hour caning it around some back roads, I soon give up on the idea.

It might have something to do with the fact that it has just enough handling and performance really push its envelope without doing ridiculous speeds. Plus it is comfortable and reliable.

Maybe one day I'll change it for a new Speed Twin.

ETA: I sometimes lust after a Kawasaki ZXR750 H1/H2. One of those might tempt me away.

The bike I bought to be my commuter slag became probably my favourite bike I've ever had. I've never regretted any motorcycle really. I had a K1200 for 6 months (although that was planned) and it did give a lot of headaches, but was still a great bike!

Bought this Tiger 900 and KTM 300 XC-W on the same day last year, absolutely love both of them!

The Tiger is such a swiss army knife, it seems to do everything very well.

A few years back when I moved I bought a 2006 CBF1000 (my "new" bike) cash with about 20k miles on the clock from a nice bloke originally from Cape Town.
Been pleasantly surprised. Comfortable, handles well, very decent performance, and good fuel economy too given the size of the engine and its credentials.
Only two issues; the stator fried (apparently a known issue) and had to be replaced, and it is admittedly a little bit wide & heavy. Given I'm rather tall the height isn't so much an issue, but the ~230kg mass is definitely a factor.
Still, loving it so far. Pic from the week I got it.

Bought a cheap GSXR 1000 K4 to clean up and sell on. Was so impressed with it I kept it for over a year. Not sure exactly how, but it suited my proportions perfectly and was very comfortable, even did some light touring on it.

Possible shout out to my current Moto Guzzi V7. Bought pre reg for a great price, and is way more fun than the 52bhp would suggest.

It has to be my first bike in 1989. It was a 1985 Kawasaki AR50 finished in of course Kawasaki Green.

I loved it to bits and enjoyed racing it round with my other friends. I kept it stock as I was paranoid about seizing it or my insurance being invalid.

Two spring to mind:

1) My first Thundercat (1998). Low expectations, came from a '95 Triumph Trident 900. Fabulous bike, so much better than I'd expected, just did everything I asked of it without fuss or drama. I didn't feel 'overbiked' for my abilities which filled me with the right amount of confidence. Commuted for miles on that thing. The second one I had a few years later never captured the same feeling (as is often the way)

2) Triumph Sprint ST 1050 (2005). Can't recall what came before it but wanted something that would hit the sweet spot between sporty and touring (as I was moving more towards the latter). It's still the benchmark I use for noise and comfort, and looks tbh. Genuinely gutted when I binned it a few years later, I still keep a look out for them but tech has moved on so far

Well, this little red rooster (delivered today) has put a massive smile back on my mug! My 2nd V7, after a couple of Ducatis, and it feels like I'm back 'home' again smile

Gpz500s back in the mists of time.

I had an agreement with my local dealer to swap my kmx if I passed my test.

I duly did, rode to the shop straight after the test and did all the necessaries, then had to wait an interminably long time to pick it up (2 days) because this was in the days before the internet and needed tax and insurance sorting.

May not have been the most exciting bike I've ever had, but as my first "big" bike, I have huge affection for it.

So much about 10 years ago I bought an EX500 (Green, Blue seat & White wheels) to relive my past .....
What seamed a great idea turns out to be a candidate for the "New bike regrets" thread,

Been there, done that too. These are massively underrated by folk who've never ridden one but mostly loved that folk who have experienced that addictive airbox howl as the revs climbed. I could thrash mine to within an inch of it's life and it just came back for more. Good Handling for a budget bike, Good performance, good comfort and brilliant reliability. A good one is a bit of a bargain.

Every time a nice one comes up for sale, I am so tempted to buy it to just have some fun on.
