I'm after some new enduro/adv/touring pants, but everything on the market seems to be over the boot. I have some like that, but my issue has been that when riding off-road, if you need to put a foot down, it's possible to catch the bottom of the trouser on the footpeg and then everything goes pear-shaped very quickly. I know there will be thoughts about water running down the trousers into the boot, but that's nothing which me and a pair of Sealskinz socks can't cope with.

I'd like them waterproof (pref Goretex), and armoured would be a bonus although I can wear separate armour under them if needed. Standard MX-type pants are pretty basic in these departments.

Any suggestions?

I wear road textiles off road (because I want the protection on the road bits) I just tuck them in my MX boots along with my knee guards that I wear over the trousers because they're comfier that way

When I wear them on the road they go over my road bike boots

I have some Klim Dakar ITB not sure who stocks them now
I agree about the foot peg issues and they end up burnt on the exhaust too , just a couple of wraps of duct tape round the top of your boots works for me with the ITB pants ...

Cheers, they look great. Only seem to be available in the EU currently so there may be import etc issues but I'll look into it.

That klim gear is pretty expensive gear that could possibly be ruined very quickly riding off road and gore-tex isn't very waterproof when it got holes in it. I always wear over boot trousers so can't give much advice on what to buy, but personally I would buy a cheaper set of waterproof enduro trousers and spend the rest of the money on some really good quality knee protection.

I wear Klim gear off road, no issues at all, that's what it's designed for. Both on the road bike and the dirt bike.

I have two pairs of Klim Dakar in Boot, I bought both second hand. I have fallen off while on byways a number of times and the pants have held up just fine.

I would say that yes they are expensive but they are very comfortable and have a good name for a reason

I use the Klim Mojave In Boot for dirt biking.

It feels similar to motocross gear, but has pockets so is more useful. Fallen off lots of times in these, no issues so far.

Sounds good, but they seem to be discontinued now?

Looks like the Dakar will be the replacement:

These are what Ivan Stewart posted above and I think they may be the way to go.

Would still prefer something Goretex and properly waterproof tho, notwithstanding the rip risk in a fall, but perhaps such an item doesn't exist?

Yes it does - normal road textiles and tuck them in your boots - like most of us do

That doesn’t really work well, over the boot pants have a lot more material in them which you have to somehow stuff inside the boot. I’m not a fan of that (and it looks cack) hence my OP.

Apologies for the resurrection smile I didn't get round to buying when I previously posted this but absolutely need to buy some pants now.

Both of the Klim models seem to be discontinued and nobody has any stock. So, I'm back to asking: recommendations for decent ITB enduro trousers please. I accept that I won't get Goretex, at the other end of the spectrum I don't want anything as flimsy as most MX pants. I've been searching high & low and I'm really having trouble finding a relatively tough pair of ITB pants, preferably with vents etc.

TIA.

Everything is sold out due to covid buying. Maybe look for an online store further afield?

Klim Dakar ITB are available on eBay.
I have the Dakar Pants and I’m pretty sure they aren’t waterproof.
Light drizzle may be okay but I’ve got a proper Klim Gortex jacket and they are totally different material.
