Dunlop Mutant - anybody using these tyres?
Discussion
I was thinking of buying these for my SM. Anybody have experience? They say they stick like sports tyres & can also handle gravel tracks etc. Are they as good as the blurb or yet another compromise?

Reports I've seen are favourable
But obviously they are a compromise - personally I'd class them as a "lifestyle" road tyre, they can't be as good as the best road tyres as they have less rubber
I can't see the minimal tread would have any effect off road (I off road a lot) except for puddles

Yes because you can do dry gravel on road tyres
I regularly ride across my lawn (as I've parked something on the drive) it's fine - until you mess around on the throttle when it spins the wheel and slides sideways
Do the same on the dirt bikes and they accelerate and throw up chunks of lawn instead

Just figure out what you are riding and how much?
They look like an 80 (road) / 20 (Dirt) to me.
I'm currently using a combination of TKC80 Front / Mitas E07+ (Rear) on the Tiger, which is good for 50/50, as that's what I ride. But yes, it's a compromise on both road and dirt. I can't lean too far on the road, and I can't go through deep mud off-road either.

They’re not dirt tyres, not even close. They’re just just road tyres with a trendy tread pattern that look like race wets. Lightweight casing too - hence good for supermotos.
And they look cool.
Holy thread resurrection....And they look cool.
Anyway, I'm thinking of putting the Mutants on a KTM 690 SMC R. I've read the blurb & apparently they will cope with gravel roads - I suppose the question remains whether they're as good as the advertising suggests, i.e. will heat up fast & stick as well as a sporty tyre?
Might be worth looking at the Pirelli MT60 as well?
They came fitted to my Ducati Scrambler and they were a cracking tyre, warmed up quickly, grippy and predictable on the road and were canny on gravel tracks too.
Eta:
Fast Bikes magazine (I think??) Did a feature on the Mutants a year or 2 ago where they took a bunch of bikes around the NC500 with them fitted
From what I remember they came out quite favorably.
