I've never had a HJC before, but have just taken delivery of an i70 as my new commuting helmet.

I can't believe how good the quality is for the money, so much better than my old Bell Qualifier!

Its got a sun visor, double D fastener, pinlock included in box, locking visor, ACU Gold and Sharp 4 Star rating, and a surprisingly snug and good quality removable lining.

Its last years colours so I found it for £110 including delivery. I'm amazed how good affordable helmets are getting!

Good to hear it.
I’m coming back to biking after an 8 year break and was about to buy another AGV but spotted this -

I think I’ll give it a go. Thanks for the report. thumbup

Hjc helmets are well know in Asia and great quality, My wife has one in the back of the cupboard that is over 20 years old.
I'm not sure if the ones in Europe are different but I know a few Europeans who have found them uncomfortable. Maybe they do some thing to change the 'head shape' for the European market. But maybe be carful with distance selling.
The lining quality is very good, lasts vey well in the humid climate, which many high end European helmets don't
.The best Asian helmet I've found is SOL.

I believe HJC are the biggest lid makers in the world. I've had a couple: well made budget lids, great VFM & nice features like pinloc & sun visor. The only thing I had difficulty with was the chin strap wasn't quite long enough to clip back on itself, so there was flapping at around 40mph. Probably the result of my weird shaped head....

Had a couple: IS Max 2 flip which I used daily for instructing and commuting. Absolutely superb lid for the money. Now I don't need a flip I have one of their full face lids - cost about £150 from J&S. A bit noisy and harder to fit an intercom into due to small ear cut outs.

My HJC was comfortable, good visor, but incredibly noisy. I tried to improve it by filling the space behind the lining, but it was still noisy.

Ear plugs were vital.

I looked at HJC helmets as the pricing and Sharp ratings are attractive and the build quality seemed pretty decent to me. However they seemed to dig in at the back of the neck, really uncomfortable, painfully so.

I've had an IS17 (my second) for 5 or 6 years.

I can also claim to have - unfortunately, yet successfully - crash tested the first one. I slid into a curb head first after a car pulled out on me in 2017 and only noticed the hit on top of my head when I got home and assessed my torn up gear. Deep gash in the polycarbonate shell, no headache, that's a win and pass as far as I'm concerned.

I find the lining comfy and great quality too. It's my go to helmet when going to town or the weather is crap. My fancy Shoei NXR is for parading.

I like them so much I have just bought an RPHA11 for Sunday blast and trackdays.

Whats it like for road noise?

I bought a LS2 Vector (similar price point and spec) and find it noiser than the Caberg it replaced.

I have the RPHA 70 HJC. Got it to replace a Shoei TC2 Journey which was fine, except that the slide to lower/raise the internal sun visor broke twice, maybe even 3 times ? 1st 2 replaced no hassle under warranty but 3rd time I had to pay.. Dealer was v. helpful each time but after 3rd one I'd had enough.
He had the HJC in stock in colours I liked so got it. Sadly.... The metal visor catch ( a pointless device in my opinion) started showing cracks round it on the visor within 1 year& actually came off in my hand as I lifted visor so went back again. He told me HJC knew there were issues & replaced visor there & then f.o.c. Great!

Now I see the same cracks on the visor are showing again.. Grr. The catch is meant to lock the visor down in place but it's not as if I ever lock it but only ever push it down till it connects to rubber seal.

Am I unlucky or doing summat wrong (doubtful) ?? Shame as it's comfy, not noisy (earplugs used), light & good looking.

Integrated sun visor no use to me as I wear glasses. It won’t interfere when it’s up will it?

Like I say I’m returning to biking and went out the other day just to test the bike when it got delivered. My loose old AGV lid kept wobbling around and sliding my glasses down my nose.
I only managed to get 5 miles away then I came home.
Oh and my oil light came on. rolleyes

Let’s hope my second ride is better, once I buy a new helmet.

I also wear spectacles - I love an integrated sun visor. No issues with it up or down in my HJCs.

I've just gone the other way (so to speak) and got rid of an LS2 because it was so noisy. My Caberg is much better. I've had a few HJCs and they've been pretty good for noise.

Received my C70 yesterday. Quite impressed for the money although the last helmet I bought was my AGV, 20 years ago.

Lining feels decent as does everything else. The built in sun visor is excellent.
Fit is a bit tight. My head measures 57cm and this is a 58cm which covers 57-58. Fits my head ok but my cheeks are a tad squashed. I’ve enquired about thinner cheek pads. I think it will give anyway, but I’ll try a set of thinner pads in if I can.

Anyway I’m yet to ride the bike with it on to check wind noise etc but so far I’m happy. Worth every penny of the £143 it cost.
It’ll certainly be fine just to get me back out there. If I get back into bikes properly I’ll invest in a better one in a year or two.

Nice one, I am a size medium as well, and like you the cheeks are a bit tight but I would rather it that way, as after some use they tend to bed in a bit and loosen off.

I have been using the i70 for commuting this week and have been very happy with it. Definitely quieter than my last Arai, sun visor is great and the helmet doesn't buffet or try to lift at speed. I am doing 30 miles each way on A roads with no aches or comfort issues by the end of it so a win in my book thumbup

Nothing to add to this but will be following with interest, as I am also looking at a HJC i70 from SBS (hopefully purchasing end of this month).

It will replace a LS2, which other have pointed out is very noisy.

That sounds like you've got the fit spot on, you should get hamster cheeks with a brand new lid. It'll give over time.
