Mrs Fb changes steed
Discussion
Mrs Fb is currently learning to ride and was using the bargain basement GS500 I snagged her for £300. All it needed was a £10 solinoid relay and several rattle cans to spruce it up. Learning was going great and she mastered riding it in under an hour. Going through the gears and doing figure of 8’s etc. Then she had a small miss hap recently and laid the bike over when she stalled it and her little short arse couldn’t reach the floor in time

She then decided she wanted a 125 so she can do her CBT and do some road miles on a smaller bike rather than DAS and jump on her Gs. Started to browse marketplace and a little peach cropped up 20 miles away...... I present you 10hp or sheer boredom

It’s a 2013 bike with one lady owner who has done 256 miles since new !!! Paid £1500 which is neither cheap nor expensive IMO, but equally £1500 for an essentially ‘brand new’ Yamaha can’t be sniffed at either .

She is also taking up waaaaay to much space in my garage now, but at 2 bikes a piece I shall have to hold my tongue, more so as I’ve commandeered her GS as my new winter hack

I had one of those as my 2nd bike. blue one with a fairing at the front bought it from DK Motorcycles.
I went from Derbi Senda 50cc (turns out the old owner bored it out to 90cc) to Yamaha YBR125. I came off it after about a year and found out the model DK had sold me was an import and you couldn't get the replacement fairing. Mum and Dad had a villa in Turkey and dad went to the local Yamaha dealer there and they got me a new fairing (brought it back in hand luggage!).
Was a reliable little bike.

I think I saw this on Facebook marketplace the other day, I take it you are in the south east? My missus has her cbt and theory next month and I’m currently trying to find her a first bike. Debating whether to get her a 125 or let her go full bike test straight away.
Pretty sure I saw your B-King the other week too as there can’t be too many about.

Yes to SE so probably same one on marketplace. Won’t be many Bking’s around this way either so you’re on the money Pretty sure I saw your B-King the other week too as there can’t be too many about.

We decided small bike and CBT first so she can get some road experience first. She could ride the 500 plenty well enough but she’s rather build up more confidence first.
I don’t know how you could find something like that. Inspired by you I just looked at FB marketplace. Shoot me now. Full of retards that can’t spell or hold a camera straight, selling bikes that have been to the moon and back. “Engin rebuilt good mechanic” etc I will never look again

Sadly the challenge is wading through the crap to find the golden nuggets but I assure you they are out there! In the past few years I've had a track hornet 600 with R6 USD front end and lots of trick bits like ohlins steering damper etc for £850, bought a 2005 R1 track bike for £800 and a CBF 125 for a friend to do a road trip on around Scotland on for under £700 and 10k miles!
You just have to put up with the ball ache of the eejits to get them.

I always miss out on the real bargainsDon't pick the big cities, look for the obscure little areas where there are only 5 or 6 bikes listed.
Look for the rubbish photos and the 10 word adverts that are already two or three weeks old.
Make an absolutely stupidly low and insulting offer and be prepared to leave your number for them to call back in a fortnight when it still hasn't sold.
Cheers guy, was certainly a bargain. The thing with marketplace is you do have to sift through all the morons first, and there are many !!
Today was first shakedown on the 125, she nailed it immediately. Her confidence was good on the GS but I could see an even bigger improvement once she rode the 125. I have a massive industrial estate near me that’s gated and away from public access so she rides round there to her hearts content.
I think she’s ready for CBT now and then she can start riding on the roads locally.
Bike is going to be left at local MOT place tomorrow until they can get a ticket on the bike, then I can tax and insure it for her.
