best bike for new rider

Bandit 600. from £1500 for a '95 to £3k for almost new cheap insurance - much cheaper than cbr6 ie £150 tpft and if ya sort the suspension for say £250 bung on a race pipe & dyno jet and it will give just off 90bhp, which is well short of new 600 sports bikes but ride it hard on the twistys and they cant get away.. Engine is bullet proof and parts last ages- my clutch is original at 40k miles. Fancy a bit more torque get a Bandit 12 (but u might struggle for £2k)
Only not great coz you always have to clean em or thy rot away or if you are very short coz its quite big or need a faired bike.
even cheaper i had a Kwak ER500 as a loaner and loved it, really light and nippy and if ya wring its neck it is supprisingly rapid. You can get em from about £1200

cbr 600 me 30 bike left on street , immbolizer 299 tp&ft from www.insurance2000.co.uk
great bike , i bought mine 3 months ago just after passed me da and was v.scared of it at first but it really doesn't bite unless you do something stupid .
Mine's was 3k for 96n but only had 8k on the clock so 2-2 1/2 would get a 95 cbr600-f
probaly think about waiting a month or two then dealers will be more willing to deal at good prices because of the seasonal slump.
Last month 's ride mag had a good article on it{ think it was ride ,memory is abit hazy 2nite}

Same as you, I passed bike test two years ago. Had a Virago 125 to learn on. Two days after passing my test I bought a 600 Bandit. Absolutely great for 1st bike. No problems - bullet proof. Not incredibly fast, but after a 125 Virago, it left a grin on my face.
Just changed it for a VFR800 VTEC. Great bike, but the Bandit left a good impression on me. Can't go wrong.
