Sounds like the Snett get off was a lot bigger than generally reported....
Nothing from the man himself on SM, and he is usually a huge user of Twitter at least...
Petra posted that he underwent a huge op to stabilise spinal and neck injuries, along with the idea that recovery would be time consuming...
I hate to say it, but the lack of real info does worry me, and that this, just maybe, the end of his career.
I really really do hope this isnt the case, but usually, after a get off , the BSB guys are usually very quick to post hospital shots with thunbs up, and even hypebaric chamber shots.....
I hate to see anyone get hurt racing, but to see someone who rarely crashes get properly hurt is always harder to bare....
Get well soon 67....

Totally agree with the lack of news from the man himself being worrying. Petra is never emotional on SOME and she’s been very active with her worries.
All sort of conspiracy theories ranging from ‘he’s fine’ as he’s left in Norfolk & Norwich, through to ‘he’s in trouble’ as he can’t be moved from the Norfolk & Norwich!
The longer the silence, the longer I worry. Presumably a rubbish end to a great career?

There's some photos of Shakey in hospital with associated comments on Petra Byrne's Instagram account

Piecing together the comments it would appear he's got a broken back that was operated (supposedly successfully) earlier in the week, but also a broken neck and lots of other broken upper body bones so it's going to be a long recovery process at best

Update time.. apologies for putting this out so late but here's where I'm at.. I have 2 bruised lungs, all of my ribs fractured, 4 broken vertabrae, a broken neck in 2 places, broken septum, collarbone, multiple other back fractures, fortunately no paralysis which was a big bonus....
That sounds pretty bad, must have been a horrible crash.....I think he could be out for the season, but really just want to see him recovered.

I guess at some point even a racer must think that's enough pushing my luck ?I think he could be out for the season, but really just want to see him recovered.
He must think i can comfortably retire and how many more big crashes can i get away with .

Retirement is easier said than done, no matter what level you are at. Crashing is all part of it and the lure and draw of the sport put the idea of crashing behind you. I have had some fairly major crashes in my racing career, but have never considered giving up. It is bad enough taking a year off! I do hope that Shakey returns to the grid soon, his career is far from over.

I deliver to someone who raced and almost lost a leg , that was enough for him to go from racing to track days to green laning now.
I raced 93-98 and gave up for 11 years due to a bad injury at the end of my teenage years. Got back in '09 with everything now being 4 stroke to do it all again and really buggering myself up pre season training early '14Now full of metal I just enjoy track days and a bit of mx/green laning
He has had an excellent career and done so well but there comes a time you need to bring it back a bit
Shane has never been a crasher, and is not likely to be full of metal.
lets remember he spent a year riding the worst bike in MotoGP, and then another year racing a worse one!
He knows when to push and when not to and this was just a biggie.
If he feels fit enough, then the risks in BSB are far less than a Hutchie or McPint face on the roads.
I am not a massive 67 fan, would prefer him to disappear and give everyone else a chance, but can't see him retiring if he stills feels like he can a job.
He is set for a life of presenting anyway, and let's be fair would far rather listen to him than Haydon!

I doubt he will retire yet unless forced to, although the three-in-a-row might be gone now.
Still the 100 wins though, which I suspect he'll be more determined to reach than before.
I dont think retirement is yet in the plan, but I do think he is fired up to get the 100 wins.Still the 100 wins though, which I suspect he'll be more determined to reach than before.
I saw an interview a couple of years back, and he said then , that he wanted to raise the bar so high that it would be very difficult to beat. ie to be the "winningest" (hate that expression!) rider ever in BSB
