Unfortunately he has hodgkins lymphoma again.

He's beat it once, I hope he can beat it again.

Not a great few weeks for our biking heroes.

The few times I've met Whitam he's been as funny and as genuine as he comes across on TV.

Cancer is a word that no one wants to hear once in their life never mind twice so all the best to Whitam and everyone else who is suffering with cancer.

Missing Jamie's witty commentary already on ITV4. He better beat it and get back into the commentary box where he belongs, with his fine Yorkshire twang.

Bound to be a worry for him and his family though.

That's crap to hear!

I've had Hodgkins Lymphoma twice (in 1983 and again in 1985) and wrote to Jamie Whitham about my experience when I read about his illness in MCN back in 1995 and when we met at a bike do at Beaulieu a year or two after his recovery he remembered my letter in detail and was grateful for the information I shared and positive outcome that I had.

I really hope he can get over it again.

He was a regular at trackdays I used to ride in the late 90's/early 2000's. I was on my spanking R1 he on a ratbike loaner rent-a-heap CBR 600. I exited Coppice giving it the beans, straight up the inside of Jamie on the brakes into Foggy's & away....I hit the brakes as late as I dared into Redgate & JW was still on the gas on my inside & gone, properly, properly gone. The gulf between a have-a-go trackday hero & a WSB Hero were there to see. Humbled & in awe. Great bloke. Loved to watch him way back when & enjoyed his commentary since. "That'll not T-Cut out!"....it better bloody had do Jamie Lad. Best of luck to him #69

Fingers crossed he beats it again.

I always remember he was commentating and let slip him and his brother in law had gone to some auction and come back with a couple of american ambulances ( as you do ) which we're being hidden at the airfield he runs. Proper legend.

Just watching him on BBC4 Superbikes when Britain ruled the World. Good luck to him.

Hopefully he can beat it for the 2nd time. I beat it once not sure I could do it again.

that's positive news, it's great that he's back. Shame he wasn't able to be at the TT this year. I bet he missed that.

Watching a bit of superbikes and James is still commentating here in 2024 - I had a quick google but no references to his medical problem, I assume treatment worked, just wondering if he is therefore in remission?

I believe he’s fine now… He’s a busy guy, commentator/pundit for BSB, IOM TT and he does a lot of stuff on YouTube..
