Motorcycle riding jeans advice

I would appreciate some advice from the collective here.

I fancy getting a pair of armoured jeans. My key contenders are Hood and Resurgence. I would like Rokker but they are eye wateringly expensive.

However I am wondering am I just better off getting some underarmour type of get up instead, something like

and then I can wear what I like on top.

Aldi are currently doing armored jeans for £40

Consider the size and thickness of the seams in the crotch. If there's Kevlar or other materials added, these can be very thick and feel like your riding on a concrete bollard.
Also beware of crotch room. For some reason armoured jeans rarely have much.
I have pjms now. For the 209 quid I paid, they're just ok. Not really long enough, armour not well positioned despite being adjustable etc etc

If they're relatively loose fit then forget about armour attached to the jeans and hey stuff that straps to your leg. I wear knoxx crossguards and the wife wears forcefield limbtubes under our draggins as the Velcro in stuff can move around way to much to be any use.

I use Furygan kevlar jeans and they're pretty comfortable, but a lot tighter than I thought they'd be. I'd definitely go up a size compared to normal.

I have the Resurgence Cafe Racer Skinny Jeans, and they are brilliant.

They aren't actually that skinny, and they feel ridiculously comfortable to wear.

Solid 10/10 for me.

Ive tried loads of jeans on over the last 5 years or so and they really do vary in what you get for your money.

For the last year or so been wearing Rokker Revolution. They are the best ive found, more like a waterproof bike trouser with abrasion resistance of leather that just look like jeans. The armour fits in well and surprisingly easy to get right. Expensive ...but worth it. Cant imagine Id ever need to replace them, and if they wear through in an off, Rokker will replace them FOC under warranty.

I have a spare pair of hood jeans. Their most recent K7 jeans are excellent "regular" fit and with D30 armour thats adjustable they are my next choice. Not waterproof though. If you are a fashion victim after some skinny designer jeans, perhaps not for you. Otherwise great and made to measure leg as standard.

Wont list all the brands tried and dismissed, but what you tend to find is that many of the cheaper jeans are like regular fashion jeans with a few patches of "kevlar like" stuff and armour that does not really fit in the right place......theres more focus on the design/colour/stonewash than the protective qualities.

at the other end of the scale some jeans are £150-200 and get CE approval, and to achieve this they are 2-3 layers, like wearing chainsaw trousers, so no cooler than leathers in the summer and soak up water like a nappy if it rains.

These - had mine for two years and no complaints. FULLY lined and only place I've seen happily take a blade/sander/hacksaw to their own product whilst wearing them.


I read an article last year on others available on the market LINK. The Roadskins aren't as stylish as others on the market but protection over style for me.

These are the Resurgence ones I was referring to.

I like them so much, I'm going for a black pair to alternate with when I can.

I do like the look of those PMJ ones though.

I have a pair of these. They're good, but to get the leg fitting comfortably I ended up with the waist being a bit too big. No big deal though, but they are a bit too warm for summer use.
They are shower resistant to a degree although I carry waterproof over trousers in my top box anyway.
I also have a pair of Kyrano part lined jeans with D3O armour. These are very comfortable and better suited to warm weather.

The best CE-2 jeans are good on the bike or sliding on your ass but not so good off the bike. The best jeans off the bike are not so good on the bike or sliding on your ass. So how are you going to use them and what is important to you?
The best are not cheap but you do tend to get what you pay for.

having now looked at a few sites I was under the impression that the jeans would be as good as textiles, aren't they?

Not sure if it will help but I am in the same boat as you.

After tonnes of research I'm going for a pair of Hood K7 although yet to order.

However, I needed a pair of protective jeans desperately for the weekend and recalled seeing them in Aldi.
I called in and found the same ones as the ones in the video, Crane(?) with some kevlar lining to the arse but not alot else, and very thin denim-not particularly confidence inspiring.

However while rooting around in the bin to see what sizes were availiable, I found another, different style.
They are black denim but very thick, im guessing 14oz. They also come with CE Level 1 knee and hip protectors, and appear to be thermally lined (i needed them in a rush and literally wore them from the store) but they are completely different to the cheap ones, and seem to be more in line with the RST jeans I viewed previously. Either way they should be fine as a back up pair.
I think they were priced at £70 but went through the til at £35. That said they were the only pair i could find.

Bull-it SR6 here, and they feel like they'd offer protection from a chainsaws massacre! So on the 'safe' rather the 'comfortable' end of the spectrum. After 3 years still stiff as a board, and weigh a tonne. Absolutely no stretch 12,000 miles on - more fool me for buying the size I'd take in regular jeans and expecting them to 'give' in time, so as mentioned before I'd buy a size bigger than regular if I was doing it again to make it comfier sitting down. Totally windproof and warm cold days; and actually not bad on hot days - they're so thick they insulate you from the heat, and the liner does a decent job of keeping things fresh. But absolutely no cooling breeze.

But pretty bullet-proof (see what I did there ), and if you're looking for 'safe' in a look that's just like regular jeans they're a good choice I'd say. Not so good if you want to wear them much off the bike as regular jeans.
