bike problems! Oxford heated grips..

May be wrong form but I'm new.. Oxford heated grips 4 settings was working fine then green battery saver started to flash became steady assumed It was battery.. I replaced it and same fking problem any ideas? Thanks guys

OXFORD HEATED GRIPS. Just thought I would share how I fixed a problem with the controller. Water is a big problem if it gets into the wiring and it does ! There is a stud that sticks out of the controller that the insulation of the wiring fixes over. The trouble is its vey short and the insulation rides down over time ! You would not notice it because its below the controller not very visible. PUT A SMALL CABLE TIE ON THIS END Water gets in runs down the wires into the connectors creating a short circuit this messes up the controller. After finding out this was an issue I have taped up all the connectors with insulation tape in the head light were I have put them. This may also be the reason other posts I have read about one grip not heating properly . Hope this is a help.

If you decide Oxford heated grips are actually a pain in the arse, consider fitting Symtec grip heaters. A much simpler system, and should be wired in via a relay (as any thing should be, really) so that with the ignition "off" there is no power to the grips, irrespective of if you left the switch in one of the two heating positions (toasty or fking-hell-my-hands-have-caught-fire). As they are just a heating element which wraps around the bar (once you have removed the grip!), you can fit over the top some slimmer grips (I like renthals) and retain the feel that can be lost with the chunky grips of Oxford systems.

Whilst I am very pleased with how my new Oxford grips heat up, etc, the grips are Way too ruddy fat !!
Why Oxford didn't give more thought to this is daft.
