No wonder they fall off so damn muchDrives me mad watching it!!
they do seem to hop off at the slightest sign of a wobble....typical numpty BMW drivers ;-p
Trouble is, they take on the rough stuff at about 0.002mph when wonder why they constantly get bogged in it or topple over. It then takes two of them to upright the GS.
Pin the throttle and shift you weight back.
Amateurs

It's one of the best things on TV at the mo (IMHO).
I was gobsmacked that they had not tried riding the bikes before the big departure - they were struggling in London before they'd got to the end of the road...!
But the show is great & it makes you feel like getting off yer ass & going out to do something a little more adventurous - I also like the exposure they are getting for UNICEF - nice one!
Also liking John Lydon series with sharks/bugs etc.

Shame, it looks like it took a lot out of them.
How about the cameraguy. Pass your test then get on a bike for a 20,000 around the world trip. Experiance? nah i'll make it up on the way round.
top class program at the moment aswell as Battlestar Galatica.
BG & LWR Best 2 hours of tv and its on Sky...then sky blow it with "toughest seaside resorts/vilages/pubs/old people homes" os some such
I have done the BMW off-road course and I have riden the 1150GS off road. Top bike, definately the right kit - so I bought one.
It's actually better than the 650 off road (not racing) as the weight and the torque really work for you. Balance is superb and with a little bit of speed (comes with confidence) should get through most things.
Only thing to stop it is fording water - the air intake is lower than the 650

Guy videod it for me cos I don't have Sky either.
Thought it was very good and Ewan McGregor seems pretty unspoilt.
The only problem is that, when you watch things like this, you feel the need to get the bike out.
Thought of one of those bikes, but more tempted to get the new 1200.
Typical 4x4 guy really, very little off road so don't really need an enduro.

There's a good review of the KTM 950, BMW GS1200, Tiger 955i and Honda VeryDullo in the Dec TWO.
(They did on road down to the south of France then several days off-road)
KTM best off-road, most extreme of the 4,least good on-road but with the worst fuel range and comfort.(Gel seat avail at 68ukp)
Tiger, cheapest, longest fuel range, most revvy.
BMW, err, most german ;-p most torque, most expensive.
Verydullo, competent, but as the name suggests....

I read that review, probably pretty fair, except the fuel range thing. On the KTM you HAVE to fill the right side of the tank first and then move over and fill the left. If you don't do this it can result in the tank not fully draining before the reserve light came on. I managed the bike show and back and a Sunday meander before the reserve light came on. That distance was 70 miles each way to the NEC and about 30 odd on the Sunday. I certainly wasn't doing 100 MPH everywhere, but on the motorway I was sitting very comfortably...

As for the gel seat, I've got one and it is better than the standard, I can ride all day on it. But before I head to Oz I'm getting a custom built job to make sure...
All in I'm well pleased with it, top bike! And whilst it probably is the most extreme I find it very comfy on the road - much better than my old SV!
