Passed my test today now just need a bike.

What do you recommend, cant decide between a SV650/Hornet or something sportier like a CBR600/ZX6 that will last me a bit longer??

Thanks

Well the SV won't feel so much of a jump,or as much of a change from what you probably passed your test on(Your direct access bike)The CBR will feel a lot crisper, responsive and sportier and will probably be a little more of a handful, not a handful as in they don't handle(they do everything well)it will just need a little more respect than the SV.You probably won't grow out of the CBR so quickly,it will have enough punch and power to last you quite a while:-)Well done on the test!Take care.

You should also check insurance costs. I suspect it'll be a fair bit more expensive to insure a 600cc sportsbike than an SV/Hornet.

You haven't said what you'll be using the bike for. Give us a hint

Thanks Guys

Mostly a bit of weekend fun, but I can see it turning into a daily driver on my 10 mile commute just to avoid the traffic queues.

Probably a bit of Euro riding as well, ferry to Spain, etc!!

Get a second-hand SV and you can probably sell it for almost what you paid for it in a years time, when you have 1yr NCD and much more experience.

I bought a year old SV650S with plenty of toys (remus exhaust, lowers, tail tidy, hugger, alarm) and a couple of scratches for £3000. I've had it for about 3 months now and believe me, it is still scary enough.

A friend of mine has a perfect 1500 mile one for sale (bought for his girlfriend who then dumped him, he had the good sense to keep the bike). He has the choice of 748 or SV in the garage, so the SV is going. Let me know if you are interested, it could be a bit of a bargain at this time of year.
