i have finally ditched the 125 and got a CBR600FX (1999) my god this is great!!
I took the 125 in and got a surprising £2000 for it (700 more than what i was offered from Honda) this only left me with 200 to pay which Graham, from Redline Motorcycles, put on the new bike. The honda was 3500 so all in it was 3700 and at only a 100 more than my bike when new i can't believe how so little buys so much.

I can't stop grinning and i can't wait to ride it again. Will the grin factor die out? Also how do you stop from opening the throttle all the time and using up so much petrol? i can't help it that feel go factor is great, i have found a new drug.

i have already done about 100 miles on it and it feels like nothing. The seat is so comfey compared to the 125 and its so light to ride around. I am actully more stable on this heavier bike than i was on the 125.

Right so now that i have a proper bike who's up for a blast?

Cheers all
a very happy D3ano

I had one and they are great bikes,by nature the motor loves to be revved all the time and you will be up and down the box a lot, unfortunately this was my main(personal) reason for leaving the 600,s behind and getting something bigger:-)as for watching the fuel,600,s aren't that bad,i've just got a tuned Hayabusa, honest, you are not using too much fuel believe me,this thing i've just got is frightening with the juice, bang for the buck you can't really beat the 600 class bikes, and as for 'that' thrill when pulling back the throttle,it will last for a long time!

Well done mate - but ride safe!! Especially in this weather, theres not as much grip as youd like and a 600 will throw you into a whole heap of trouble soooo much easier than a 125!

Have fun

Well Done.

CBR is a great bike, loads of people have them, and very few have problems.

Where about are you in the UK?

Don't think you can really get insurance for track days. Most people just take the chance that they won't throw it down the road. I have done 2 and this was my attitude. You can get it but it is horrendously expensive. They can't do anything to you if you do a trackday apart from tell you you're not covered.

I have also done 2 track days.

Your normal Insurance will not cover Track days as they deam it as competing.

You can get specialist insurance but it will double the cost of your track day.

My View was that I don't crash on the road, so If I ride on the track within my capabilites then it is actually a lot safer. Less things trying to knock you off.!

so they won't turn you away, because you don't have insurance to ride on the track?
If this i s the case, how much is it for a track day at brands hatch?

well done on the bike. a track 'school' might be your first approach. use the schools own bikes! (sometimes CBR's!!)

you need to learn your own bike on the road before jumping on the track, but in reality, you will learn your bike quicker on a track...
mainly because your concentrating on the bike, rather than spending up your concentration on cars, signs, directions, pot holes...

brands is very handy for you, might all have to crash at yours for the next PH one eh?

brands is also one of the most expensive track days
Being so close, some evening ones (1/2 a days equiv) might be great for you.
The track season is pretty much over till next year now, dry days are by far the best!

forget insurance; you don't need it on the track. There are firms that offer it - £150 ish. But often thats full right-off stuff, which your not likely to do.

You could always push it back to your house, and say you did it on the road....

I've heard that some insurance companies send people around to track days to get peoples reg plates incase they do this. Dunno if it is an urban legend but, I wouldn't put it past them.

Nope, just need a license.

I did my first day at Brands Indy. Paddock hill bend is very scary the first few times. At the end of the day, you'll be tearing around it though. As has been mentioned, I learnt so much about the handling of my bike and how to ride on grass at 65 mph. There was a sphincter mark on my seat cover after that....

Great fun, get doing track days and you'll be hooked and want a track bike....

Brands indy is brilliant, I think I paid £120 in the summer (I try not to keep tabs on how much I pay )

The GP circuit is brilliant but much (like double) more expensive, and you only get the saem amount of track time

Doing the corners more frequently certainly got me learning more about how the bike behaves

Brands Hatch is an excellent place for your first trackday. It's a nice easy circuit to learn and there's nothing to really catch you out. As Incorrigable said, it's around £130 for the day.

Incidentally, I'll be racing there on Saturday at the last round of the season so if you (or anyone else for that matter) is about, I'll be in one of the pit garages. I'm #29 minitwin (SV650) with Hicom Technology spattered down the side of it. Come and cheer me on!
