Pretty pleased with myself passed my DAS bike test today with only 4 minor obsevations.

I was really worried this morning before the test. Examiner pretty decent put me completely at ease, took me round a really easy course, I thought so anyway, hardly any town riding mainly roundabouts and dual carrigeways around Worcester where I could get up to 70mph. Complemented me on my ride afterwards.

Now I can ride my Yamaha Bulldog legally!

I'm off for a ride out tomorrow after I've bought myself a new helmet.

Well done! After riding for a year myself the best piece of advice i can give you is never take it for granted what drivers coming out of sideroads etc are going to do,i had one lady look directly at me twice!I had my lights on and she still came out!Take care out there and once again congratulations!

Best of luck with the DAS. Just remember mirrors, signal, lifesaver then manoeuvre. Passing your practical is just the start.

I'm hoping to start on my IAM in a couple of weeks, the Sunday ride-outs sound fun I also hope to improve my riding as well.

Safe riding.

Cheers, I know what you mean. Twenty years ago I used to commute to work on a 250cc Honda, got knocked off by some twat pulling out of a side road, he didn't look, luckily I wasn't hurt.

Hi VD5D,

Which IAM group are you joining? I'm just starting too. Nice time of year for good weather ride-outs However, reckon if I can do my IAM over the winter, my riding will be all the smoother just as spring arrives. At least, that's what I hope!

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark

I'm hoping to join the Worcestershire IAM group. I haven't started yet as I'm waiting to get my bike serviced. I'm nearly up to the 600 mile 1st service, but after next week I should be going along on Sunday mornings. They have posted their usual routes on the web and plan do do between 70 and 130 miles stopping for coffee and fag breaks on route. I also work with a guy who's an IAM senior observer and he has offered to go out with me as well.

Cheers

Andy

Congratulations. With regard to IAM, its recommended that you put in at least 3 months riding before taking the course - that way youre completely at ease with the bike and can concentrate on the IAM stuff.

re Car drivers - definately be careful. I passed my DAS in July and got knocked off by an inattentive car driver a fortnight ago.

I hope you understand the irony of being called VOLVO5dude and riding a bike

Welcome to the club :bighand:

Thanks m8.

Well, I can't get the kids and the dog on the bike, and the Volvo V70 is a useful tool for carrying all sorts of junk about.

Yeah, I know what you mean though, I had the volvod5_dude handle before I returned to biking.

Good advice - I can have a few more sleep-ins on Sundays now.
