I seen this on another forum and thought, I'm as tight as a camel's arse in a sandstorm, I'm Scottish, I love this. Who doesn't love a bargain?

I thought this would be a great idea for BB as thousands come through it every week.

So if you come across a bikey bargain or find something in the sale stick it here.

Just a couple that have been posted to this week to get the ball rolling.

"RiDE magazine is giving away a free Xena disc lock alarm if you subscribe this month. It's only £22.74 for a 6-month subscription. That's a cheap way to get a decent disc lock alarm!

lock is worth £35-40

Just subscribed. Good deal as I usually buy a mag every few months anyway and before I had bikes used to enjoy flicking through ride. Did good kit reviews.

One more lock cant hurt. If its any good may save me ever bothering to fit an alarm. Chained rear wheel to brake caliper torsion bar, ABUS provogue disc lock and now the alarmed Xena... both in bright yellow. That should make most move on to another bike and I'll sleep even easier with an alarm of sorts too now.

Can I just stop the direct debit with my bank now and forget about it or will that give credit rating issues?

Thanks!

AF sockets?

I mean, FFS, who actually buys anything that uses AF these days apart from classic weirdo's?

Some bargain that's meant to be... hehe

Bonus point to anyone who knows what AF means without having to us the t'interweb to find out...

Almost/nearly/yes, I'll give you that.

Depending on where/when you did your degree/apprenticeshsip it could be Across Flats or American Fine (as in American Fine thread; properly called NF - National Fine), but the difference between the two is huge!

Seriously though, who uses AF these days apart from bodgers and geeks; even Harley have gone metric in their fasteners...?

People who have older machines? In terms of spanners it's about head sizes, not threads, innit?

I've had to use proper sized spanners lately, seems most of my Jag is still in proper imperial sizes & it's a '93!

Unless anyone has managed to do it without problem, I'd be weary of the lure of a six month magazine subscription as:

"We ask that you enter into a Direct Debit agreement with the intention that your subscription will continue for a minimum period of 12 months"

and

"If a gift is included as part of the subscription offer we reserve the right to request the return of the gift in the event of an early cancellation of the subscription."

Know a few people who have bought the halfords socket set and all have said its decent quality for what you pay - plus they are under lifetime warranty!

It's completely normal to do that. We did Arai kit bags as a subs gift years ago, hundreds of people bought the sub at the NEC show and collected a £60 bag, then cancelled the sub as soon as they got home.

wavey Classic weirdo here hehe

AF = Referring to the imperial measurement "Across Flats". I have a LOT of AF stuff and also some Standard Whitworth.. if you know what that is but none of my kit says Halfords on it wink

edit: beaten twice by other weirdo's laugh
