Test on friday.
Discussion
guys and girls.
Any pointers that you can give me?
I have trainning on Tuesday and Thursday with the test at 13:30 on the friday. I'm feeling a bit nervious, but i suppose thats good as it makes me more aware of what i am doing (i am normally a relaxed type person) i am trying my best to get into the habbit of double pressing my indicator switch as i heard that sometimes it doesn't always turn off on the first press.
Any help and tips will be greatly appreciated
Cheers

I failed my first test on the indicator thing.
I found the best way was to just relax and treat it as a nice days riding - ie, "im going out for a nice days riding on the bike, and if i gain a license from it, all the better". It worked a treat, as I just didn't really care that much - I was enjoying riding and forgetting the examiner was there.
Good luck buddy - I hope you pass!

echo that... i just done mine in July and figured that I already had a car licence so lets just go enjoy the ride.
You can't lose anything, only gain.

indicators nearly got me too!!
just keep pressing the darn thing. make it second nature. It will then take 4 years to stop doing it
totally nervous to start with; but once I got told to "check my indicators" I assumed I had failed so I relaxed, and I think thats what saved me.
So - pretend your not on a test.

Indicators is the biggy, press the damn thing every 5 secs after turning,or even get it into your head 'make the turn, cancel' as part as you routine, the second your into your turning cancel, that's what one of my instructors said, and as you said, don't take it for granted because you press it it goes off!Sunny day, your sitting your test,90% chance you'll be concentrated on other things except your indicator light flashing, just think every 5 seconds, press the damn thing after a turn, did i mention to cancel your indicators? You'll know yourself your good points, these will come naturally on the day, forget about these(you know what i mean),think 100% on the simple things people fail on like cancelling indicators(did i mention that ?)checking mirrors, even just move your damn head from side to side, make it blaringly obvious and really animate all your movements so they project to the guy that matters behind you, everyone says forget about the instructor behind,it's difficult,i had a test with a guy on motorbike behind me and then a guy in car,guy in car seemed to blend into background and made it easier for me.Im a firm believer that if you fail first time,it can in a way only be a good thing, everything is hammered into you by the second time, makes you a better driver, more aware, believe me,took me three times, now im absolutely bloody fantastic!:-)Good luck on the day!Relax, remember indicators, animate everything you do,and think of lifesavers literally!
On my first test, as mentioned earlier, I left an indicator running - I thought id cancelled it (I certainly pressed something) but my fingers were numb from riding all morning in torrential rain. Once I heard him say "cancel the indicator please", I knew i'd failed, so I completely forgot about him being there. Once I saw the NSL signs, I gunned it - and as he was in a car, I completely left him behind. I thought he'd give me a bollocking for it later, but he commended me to 'making progress'
On my second test, I was really really nervous, and made daft mistake at a junction, which failed me.
Third time lucky as they say - just saw it as a nice ride in the sunshine, and passed.
Good luck mate, im sure youll be fine.

best thing is simply to relax, keep in mind that the examiners don't actually want to fail you! I was lucky and passed first time, I was also lucky that the examiner was in a car and continually got stuck in traffic! All that meant was that I had to pull over and wait for him. Just remember all the old chestnuts,
- Cancel indicators
- Life savers!!!!
- mirrors
- confidence
- progress
On my actual test I got chopped really badly by a car, so much so that I had to almost do an emergency stop to avoid a crash. This was the best thing that happened as I completely relaxed, thought I had failed and just rode... Also, don't worry if you feel a bit stressed and wobbly in the first two mins, I was, and in the de-brief he mentioned it but said it was fine as I sorted it.
Most of all just enjoy it, you will feel much much better after the two days training and just ask the instructor about everything - no question is stupid!!! When you pass make sure you get a bike, I just wish I had done my test 10 years ago!!!!

well, done my first day of trainning yesterday and it was great. I started off like crap, forgetting to turn off indicators and wobbling as i wasn't used to the bike. The instructor was shouting at me and then pulled over to have a word. After that i sorted myself out and things went well from there. I can now U turn and emergency stop within 3 seconds, i feel more confindent on the bike and making progress.
I have another trainning day on thursday and then the test on friday which i am actully looking forward to, but i don't want to get too confident.
fingers crossed that it all goes well.

bugger i failed.
I got 4 minors and failed on hesitation.
Instead of going on a green light i was waiting on a filter light to come on. I was later told that the filter light would only come on if you're in the junction box.
If it wasn't for that i would of passed. Crapola. Oh well in 10days time i will rebook another test.

Your instructor should be able to book a test straight away - you cant take the test until at least 10 working days have passed, but you can book it. I failed twice (on similarly irritating points!) and both times my instructor booked my retests the same day. Get it booked ASAP mate - I had to wait 3 weeks between each test.
