Bikes are allowed on that travesty that is the M4 bus lane. Why are they not allowed on all bus lanes, surely it would reduce accidents.

They're allowed in Richmond, Surrey - in an experiment. I think it seems to work really well.

It's a government initiative to force us all into the one lane to increase the number of accidents on any one roadway, thus justifying more cameras.

Bristol has allowed this for years and it works well. However, there have been a spate of accidents on the A4 London Road into Bath, where bikes have been motoring along in the bus lane, up the inside of stationary traffic, and have then been involved in accidents with cars turning right (from the opposite direction). Apparently the Council are now considering removing bike access as a result .

God No! - That would be terrible. Those bus lanes are dead handy, both in and out of Brisso on the A4.

It is a bit dodgy on a bike in a couple of places when the traffic builds up (5pm!) and people are turning across the queues - just need to keep a sharp eye out (as the car drivers won't!).
But I wasn't aware of a spate of accidents... was it around the bottom of Brislington hill?

I thought everywhere allowed biker bus lane use, but I guess not!
