Biking the DennisTheMenace way!!
Discussion
Met up with Denny last night, went for a bit of a blast - pretty sensible riding, a few wheelies but no dodgy overtaking manouvres. Then we swapped bikes, and it all changed.
Firstly, Dennis' ZX6R sounds absolutely gorgeous and goes like a little rocket ship, so I was in the proper 'chin on tank, throttle pinned' position. Brilliant fun. I couldnt believe just how planted and stable the bike felt, the front wheel was just stuck to the road.
The next minute, Dennis comes caning it past me on my Bandit, stands up and starts bouncing up and down (not completely sure why) before playing around with my kill switch, resulting in a big flame out the back and his clenched fist punching the air in triumph. When we got to our destination, the front brake was utilised, with the result being a fairly decent endo.
Brilliant fun - I really want to buy Dennis' bike, but im not sure where I can raise the required £3200!!

Good job guys!!! glad to here you had fun
Just out of interest what is this kill switch big flamey type thing you guys are talking about? sounds dangerously fun
I still cant manage to get the front wheel up on my bike
only time it comes up is when I dont want it to and I scare myself half to death. Every time I actually try I just end up zooming off like shit off a shovel.
Am I right in thinking its 1st gear a little revs then clutch in so its slipping then more revs and clutch out smoooothly??

Fair enough, cheers mate
I'm only too aware that i'm still 'green'. I did welly the Z a bit but bottled it when I looked down and realised I was doing 120. We were on a nice wide, empty stretch of dual carriageway though, so relatively safe.
Maybe Dennis can clarify whether or not I was riding like a suicidal nutter or not - but then he overtook me, standing up, making the exhaust shoot flames, so maybe his view of crazy is a little slanted

Heheh, i reckon youre right - me dressed like a power ranger on your ZX6R and you in jeans and jacket on a Bandit - certainly makes more sense than me on the Bandit
I had an embarressing moment tonight - overtook a string of cars, one by one, next set of lights I filter down the right hand side to the front and as im blipping the throttle and changing down the box, the bike cuts out completely and refuses to restart. I switched it to reserve and after a few seconds it whirrs into life. Unfortunately, by this point, all the cars i'd overtaken had gone past me again, pointing and laughing most probably.
Only 120 miles to a tank by the looks of things though. When I first started riding it I was getting 150 miles, hence getting 'caught short'. I guess my mpg has gone downhill since my IAM guy told me to keep it in the 6-7k rpm zone for the majority of the time.
