Oh a costly folly.
Purchased pair of nice looking stainless steel, twin outlet (ROAD) cans from a certain catlog - named rather like N&Q (but not quite for legal reasons).

Ok, 6 weeks from their supplier. Cans turn up, with dents - and RACE biased.

Umm. Dents are small and easy to hide, and 6 weeks was too long to wait for replacements.

Fit with trepidation. WOW, lovely sound. Deep, but not too loud.

Ummm. Roundabout. Scrrrrrrrriiiiiiiitcccch !!! chewed & burnt stainless casing and front cover.

Confidence ruined, take bastards off and refit original. Result? set of cans I can't send back (now binned).

The moral of the story for me was that I am faster with standard fit zorsts, have better ground clearance, and am no longer cr*pping myself when I see a police car.

Maybe cool to be loud on the track, for the extra 5% top end, but for road use - you're more likely to get a speeding ticket if you advertise your presence.

The other frustrating thing, is that in the effort to be discreet, I was never in the power band, which meant people actually over took me !!! unheard of, so just had to go.

Carl.

shoulda made myself clear, the bike is an XJR, and the after market cans reduced clearance - only found when "surfing". I didn't crash, but the ripping sound of metal on tarmac nearly made me fall off...

Ouch, how are you gonna explain that one to the missus ?

I'm still waiting after 4 weeks for them to send out my double-bubble screen.

I just recieved a carbon hugger from them, which was all cracked and horrible when it arrived. There are helpful on the phone and are sending parcel force to pick it up again, but why do they send out this crap in the first place ? They said it was probably damaged in transit, but the box was unmarked and it was well packed so I don't believe that.

Maybe they assume that I'll just say oh well never mind and fit it anyway. It must cost them a lot in pointless delivery costs.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, as they appear to be helpful, but I still haven't got my hugger, and as I'm sure you know, once you decide you need something like this it becomes absolutely critical and essential to the operation of the bike and very annoying when you don't have it.

oh she's gone to work.
Yeah, I got a severe telling off about buying stuff I don't need etc. HAd to agree, the bike is quite loud anyway 'cos it's an air-cooler (no water jacket).

Funny thing, but the ability to keep the revs up has made it easier to ride fast. The race cans force you into riding at v.low revs round town, and that compromises driveability.

So, it's up to you - buy race for the track, Yes. But for the street? errr, not if you want to get away with as much speed as possible (NSL, obviously). No point in advertising your presence. And the other thing, if you get pulled for speeding, you don't wanna look like a bwoy racer. the stats say that race-canned bikes get more speeding tickets !
