Had a puncture last night - rear tyre.

To keep mobile, had to get one of those temporary repair thingies.

It says, on the can, that you can drive up to a maximum of 30 mph.

Question is that, if you're driving down a busy dual carriageway, people will soon get pissed of if you're doing 30 on a Ducati.

So the thing is:

Do you ride in the slow lane at 30'ish, feeling completely stupid - or

Do you ride on the hard shoulder, below 30 so that you're not holding anyone up - or

Do you tootle along at say 40 - 50 to avoid feeling a total tw*t?

If you took the second option - is this an offence, or reasonable in the circumstances.

Have ordered a new tyre but will be a day or two before available.

What would you do?

Davel,

Although you may feel you look a twat riding along an M'way at 30 mph, it is not an offence to do this, and you will look more of a twat when your back tyre bursts, and potentially slings your ass down the road. I think 30 mph is a cautious saftey limit imposed by the manufacturers, but I wouldn't go a lot faster. At the end of the day, a journey at 30mph may take a while but at least you're actually moving...

Are you going to get it plugged? (and what about the tyre? boom boom)

Nah - Ducati recommend replacement tyre.

Because of the size of the nut involved, to take the wheel off, not many places will tackle the repair.

Not taking any chances so replacement it is!

the answer is to use back roads instead. where 30mph will probably still allow a few overtakes.
however low speed wheelies aren't advised

option 2 is call the AA
option 3 is call a bike recovery service, who come out witha bike trailer and take you home

Due to road works on my daily commute, I use the bike almost all of the time.

Will try a different route....

Ta.

Sorted - new tyre fitted today.
