Just wondered if anyone else would fancy doing a day at bruntingthorpe like the guys have just done, see vmax thread but with the bikes instead?

I fancy seeing exactly what the time trap says rather than just the speedo I find it a bit difficult to look at the RA on the bike .

Anyone else fancy it? will they let bikes do it?
I imagine even if we could there would only be a few of us interested possibly only me which would make the price prohibative probably.

Surely you'd just bring the timing gear forward a bit?

But I'd have thought the bikes would max out earlier due to generally superior acceleration but require more stopping distance..possibly. After all - bikes are light even if they do have half the contact patch.

Any sense in that?

I have e-mailed craig about this I'll let you know what he says.

Not sure how long I would need to stop from around 175-180ish which is my bikes theoreticle top end.

I should be ok braking as long as there is no corners

I've just emailed you back. I know a jag XJ220 went up against a blackbird a couple of years ago, neither had a problem stopping from............199mph

Hmmm, I doubt the bird can go that fast, my GPS states that I'm doing 95 when the bird indicates 110....

Still it would be interested to find out how badly the speedo is off at full whack

That's a hell of a difference - more than the generally allowed 10%.

I compared a ZX-6R speedo against my Garmin on the way down to Le Mans last year. For 100mph it was a true 92mph.

Haven't compared the Aprilia speedo yet although Bike magazine reckon they are spot on up to 167mph.

And my Clio is doing 99mph at an indicated 100mph.

If it's a windless day, we could see how quickly we could go past the timing equipment on the back wheel!

That'd be quality. I'm up for it.

A group of us did Brunningthorpe some years back. Crap surface for bikes on the circuit part due to the tar banding and light rain.

Interesting results through the timing lists though as max spped for any blade/ R was 165 even if the speedo showed 180+. Highest actual was a RSV at 171. As for me speedo showed 165, actual 159mph. Guess it would be the opposite if I had one of the new blades...Speedo 165 actual 190
