I'm about to buy a second lid (currently have Arai and have had no problems). My budget is about £400 and the main criteria is fit (Arai's seem to fit me better than most).

I wondered if anyone was aware of the lightest lid out there?

I read somethong about light BMW lids, but I have been unable to grow a beard (mandatory, or so I heard and apologies to bearded BMW riders in advance).

Advice greatly received - cheers.

P.S. For what it's worth, I ride a sportsbike and do about 5,000 miles p.a. motorway/A/B roads.

Before the BMW helmet came out I remember reading about Arashi Helmets being very light.
The web site www.arashi.co.uk dosnt seem to be working so I cant confirm how light but when I googled it I found this adverting blurb thingy:-

"Arashi:Ride the Storm, the lightest helmets in the world, now in the UK."

If you know Arai fit, then save yourself the hassle of shopping around, trying other lids on and potentially ending up with something that doesn't quite fit and just go for a Quantum or Astro. You already know the size you need. Multi-colours and racer-reps for around that price and single colours cheaper.

Still in shock over £800 lid (BMW riders must save on shaving hence spare cash for expensive kit!) and cheers for links to other sites. Suspect, I'll go for another Arai, but will have a look around in meantime.

Cheers

I recently bought a new Arai as my trusty 'Mick Doohan' was looking a bit shabby. You'd be surprised how much you can get off them just by asking.

I got 20% off so it never hurts to ask.

anyone seen that new lid with the built in bluetooth?
I hear that your supposed to be able to press a button on the back and take calls from a bluetooth phone or if someone else has the same lid, be able to communiate with them as the lids have built in speakers and mic.

Does anyone have anymore info on this?
