Very nice bike that is, have you owned it for a while, I've seen one of the Anniversary models posted before so not sure if it was you.

I've had 3 5vy's over the years, they really are still a good all round bike.

Now that is nice, I like the concrete posts. Are the plinths concrete too? We had one of those bushes in the garden years ago but it grew a little too much.

The Bike.

Being of a certain age I remember them coming out, they still look really good, I reckon a change to some modern indicators and it could be a new model. (I wouldn't change them, standard is best)

Is it a night and day difference between that and your Fizzy?

That looks great. I posted up a pic of my AR125 in similar colours a few pages back. The 80s proportions make it a nicer looking bike I think.

Did you ever see "that lad" who had a Green one at Westgate Road? He wore a Black Leather Jacket/Trousers and had his white sea socks folded over his Derry boots.

He had really long legs and arms with a small body.(obviously disabled)

I bet you remember Percy on his old Triumph Trail bike, he used to stop, balance and do all sorts of weird things all day on a Saturday.

I can vaguely remember the bike, but not the owner. Need a pic to jog my ageing memory! laugh

Oh yeah, that space cadet Percy was a regular feature, he lived just off the hill in Summerhill Terrace. Used to laugh at him wobbling about in the middle of the road!

I get regular work in that street now as a self employed tradesman, at the house that Mo Mowlem used to live in when she was active in politics. Roughly about the same time as we were all causing mayhem a few yards away! biggrin

Speaking of famous people, Sir John Hall was a few hundred feet away from me earlier in the week, he bought his first house here in the early 1960's, he was doing what looked like an interview with a TV crew.

Oh yeah, name dropper! biggrin I saw him in a pub in Lesbury having lunch one Sunday when I was having a day trip up to Alnmouth beach with the dog. Stopped in on a whim and spotted him. I was told he was a regular back then and had a property locally. Great days when he and Keegan were running the show at NUFC.

Cheers, I've only had this one about 18 months. I previously bought one new in 2006 and sold it after 4 years but always regretted letting it go. So when I spotted this one with only 4k miles on the clock I couldn't resist it.

Yellow Yams have always been appealing to me.

I also used to own one of these...

and then one of these..........

Back in the late 70's. Still look at them now and think I should buy them again. But then recognise I'd hardly ever use them, just like the R1!

Great period pics with the RDs. I've got a few more I'll dig out at some point. If that's your warm up lap, I'd like to have seen the rest! biggrin

I keep looking at CBR650Rs, accident damaged ones at Motomine seem like there's next to nowt wrong with them and they're only about 3k with neXt to no miles or damage. I really shouldn't, I've got too many vehicles and not enough space, but I like working on bikes, and I'd like to have a go on something modern to compare to what I remember. There's also the argument that you should never go back!

My Favourite model R1 then the first big bang in 09. If I hadn't a problem with my hip I would have kept my Lava Red one, I used it on track for around 8 years, it only had around 3k miles on when I bought it, I changed the forks, clock bracket all the bodywork etc, when I got my new R1 I returned it to a road bike and used it for a few years on the road. Jazoli from here bought it off me.

I still have many parts for a 5vy, forks with 3k miles on them, new Yamaha Radiator in a box, the front Disc's with 3k miles on them. Too many bits to remember.

Anyway, its a fantastic bike in the correct colour, I bet you'll hang onto it this time.

This is how it looked after putting it back to standard.

Ian Bells have a nice CBR 650 in Red.

Once you go back, cars will be sold.

biggrin Well, I'll never sell the Evo or the MR2, I can't sell the Lexus as it's Claire's, and I need my Connect for work. That leaves the Porsche, and to be fair, I've come round from that being an experiment to really quite liking it. I used to be dead fickle about cars and sell them a year or two after buying them, but I tend to find things I really like and keep them now.

I'll have a look at Ian Bells, but it makes more sense for me to buy something that's already been piled but still rideable, as I think I'll like as not bin it anyway! laugh

At our age you'll not be the same version you were 40 years ago, everyone slows down because crashing actually hurts now.
