He bares a uncanny resemblance.

Mine is the blue one wink

And out of maybe 3000 bikes (so I was told) a 5445km journey out wins me the Iron Butt award smile. (And only 9 years short of the guy that won the oldest rider).

I’m not usually in the habit of winning things, so a very pleasant surprise. Heading home tomorrow, was plotting the 1000km to Amsterdam in a single sitting, but thinking now to make a stop half way. I’ll see what the weather’s like.
That's awesome mate, have a good run home

If he keeps his head down and doesn't cough to it, we'll never know!

With the decent weather we had last weekend, I did the longest ride since I passed my test

Thought I'd really treat myself and do a 3 hour loop to go somewhere exotic...

Fitted a new exhaust to the RC today, they're massively overpriced, makes no power increase and don't sound much different from the stock. But they look nice, and i was kinda suckered into getting one when my bike has the brand decal on it.

The Scrambler looks fantastic, what are they like as an everyday bike? Appreciate they’ll be some compromises? I was looking at a new one at Triumph Newcastle and it seemed like really high quality.

4181 miles in 19 days and never missed a beat…apart from its long-standing Tourette’s at idle. No aches and pains either, which is good for an OAP smile

Rode though some really crappy weather, especially today…but the big mudguards keep most of the crap off - but as normal with lots of rain the whitewalls go grey with brake dust.

Bob is back home. He's still in pain mainly around the knee area, lots of swelling still. Not bad for 76 years old next month.

Damaged vehicles.

Bob in the helicopter.

Ouch! I hope he gets better soon and that things are sorted quickly.

I'm retired, so I suppose it's not really an everyday bike.

This is my 2nd Triumph "modern classic". 16,000 miles on a Street Scrambler (now Scrambler 900) and 6,000 on this 1200 XE. No problem with the finish on either bike.

The gear indicator switch on the 900 failed early on, but it was replaced under warranty.

As far as the 1200 is concerned:
-- The (cosmetic) "Monza" filler cap fell off the day after I collected it. It's held in place by a wedge shaped plastic ring rather than proper bolts. It was refitted properly at the first service, and it's been fine since.
-- There was a very slight oil leak from the back of the engine after the first service. It was nothing to do with the service, a threaded blanking plug on the back of the gearbox needed re-sealing.
-- The steering lock cover has a spring that, stupidly in my opinion, holds it open rather than closed, and a flimsy piece of plastic that is supposed to keep it shut. That lasted about 3 weeks. I'm pretty sure a replacement would have broken as well, so I didn't bother getting that fixed. I glued a magnet to the underside of the cover, and that mod works perfectly.

That's been the extent of the problems.

What would I change? Other than the tank cap and the steering lock cover, the dipswitch is a bit irritating.

The seat could be more comfortable, and the mudguards more effective, but I'd probably say that about most bikes. smile

You will just have to pretend that I took this on the way to Helmsley during tonight’s ride out taking advantage of the quiet roads.

Had a chat with the (lady) owner of this today. Not my usual style of bike but it really caught my eye, I thought it was very nicely done.
