Given a choice what do we prefer? The sound of a Bonneville thumping past or an EV with its muted jet sound?
The muted jet sound for me. I just hope battery technology improves faster than my old body is deteriorating. I suspect there will be a crossing in time, maybe 20 years ahead, where all of a sudden 240 mile range bikes appear with 150bhp, instant torque and a recharge time of 20 mins, just as I decide I'm really not bothered anymore and would rather use a car to make carrying my incontinence pads and various tablets easier.

What model is that? I was sat here this morning wondering about the 1290 I looked at but am (yet again) glad I got the Suzuki.....

Still, sorry to see you're having issues with it. in 2024 this really shouldn't be happening.
It's a 2023 Duke 790, just slightly detuned from the 105bhp ish originals so as to comply with A2 peak power before restriction rules. One I had as a loaner seemed to belch back coolant from around the top of the radiator, headstock area. It looked spectacular, like dry ice smoke from a 1980s rock video.

I own both, 44PS/135kg electric supermoto and 110PS/215kg 900cc naked. The supermoto is excellent around town/urban areas due to the lack of noise and instant acceleration. No one will bat an eyelid when you make progress in built-up areas

They won't replace petrol bikes soon, but I recommend a test drive if you get the opportunity.
I test rode the Zero because people said similar - it was hideous in every way

£12,500.... I wouldn't have one if it was free

I suggest you try a KTM 990 SM with Akras biggrin

The 790 engine is manufactured by CfMoto, and used in their "800" bikes.
Which might explain the cam wear problems

I think CfMoto started manufacturing the 790 in 2020 or 2021. Doesn't the cam wear problem occur in the earlier bikes?

Has KTM accepted that there is a problem?

Arrived in Budweiss for an Indian shindig after the OG trip and a 3800 mile jaunt. I’ll do more pics when. I get home. Ass is holding up surprisingly well with no real pain to speak of.

Credit where it's due that was funny, and yes it's mostly for commuting.

I think a lot of folks have been very harsh for no reason - like any scooter it's designed for a job, this or something like a Tmax? Not even a second thought, I'm having the cyberpunk electric

New (to me) bike delivered today..1991 Honda VFR750 RC36.. This is my first VFR, but I did own a V4 bike waaay back in 1990, a VF400F

It’s completely original with only 14k miles.. With 6 bikes already crammed in the man cave/garage, I wasn’t really looking for a 7th, but when I saw this..I had to have it smile

Just stop it!! After heaping praise on your CBR1000F, you've now bought this.

I had an FM for my second bike and it's the one I look back most fondly of. I sometimes wish I'd bought another VFR rather than the TLR (normally when it's misbehaving...not rare with Suzuki build quality). I'd be interested to hear how well it's aged, does it still ride well or is the suspension/brakes now too dated to make it fun to ride? Do modern tyres help or overwhelm? The engine, I'm sure, will remain epic. The only downside I recall is fuel consumption with mid-30s mpg normal and not that hard to get mid-20s mpg. I did used to ride it hard but this was late 90s when things were different. I do remember it to be quite particular on tyres, epic on MEZ1 front/MEZ2 rear but something didn't work on the upgrade to MEZ3 front/MEZ4 rear, switch to Bridgestones fixed it. The only other thing is mine was red and I've grown to dislike red bikes, so a white one would be quite the thing (black would be good but the purple decals are a bit dodgy). Sold mine for a VFR800 which is the bike I look back least fondly of......

Let us know how you get on. Must be needing a bigger garage soon?

After no seeing one of those for a long time I think it looks great, especially in White.

Good choice.

Lol.. Thanks! I can’t help myself biggrin

I haven’t ridden it yet, as the weather is typically pants.. But the plan is to pull the panels off, deep clean & polish, and just get familiar with the bike.
The dealership fitted new Michelin Pilot’s and I’ve had bikes with those tyres before, and quite liked them.. so will get back to you on how it rides and handles on them.

You’ve hit the nail on the head regarding space! With 7 bikes crammed in, I have an issue (my wife will of course confirm I have issues laugh) with a lack of space!
I am finishing off getting my ‘99 Repsol Blade up and running.. which will then be sold ASAP, so I can actually breathe out when I manoeuvre around the bikes!

Cheers BM.. Tbh, it was only a white Viffer I wanted. Some bikes suit certain colours, and I’ve always thought VFR’s looked good in white.

Itching for the weather to sort itself out so I can ride it!
