Steady......it is NOT better looking - ugly bug eyes again
Somehow I like the KTM bug eyes. This and the Street Triple lights. Nah.

You didn't include the links...

I like it in red with red forks, surprising myself slightly.

Does look very decent for 7k compared to its competition.
They did the same with the Rebel 1100, completely in a class of its own for under 9k. It’s really fantastic they are offering this quality of bike for the prices they are.

Have to agree on the styling though, I bought the Kawasaki 650 RS because finally there was a great middleweight naked bike with great retro looks. I really don’t like this new styling on the Hornet at all (but I am over 50!)

Hopefully this won’t offend anyone too much - but Honda enters one of the hottest areas of the biking market, uses a legendary name and then drops one of the most boring, homogenous Honda set of shapes and details ever?

It’s going to have to be a good deal.

It looks like a Transformer that got stuck halfway through.

TBH this could be a Honda bike from any time since about 1995?
Maybe that’s where they’ve decided the money is - budget bike with some decent power.
Am sure that it’s designed for global sale particularly the big volume markets.

The thing is they can do it. Just look at the Neo Retro range. Even the CB125R is a great looking bike. I should know…..

Not exactly design progress.

2010 CB1000

Current CB500F. Which is almost identical but somehow better looking. I think it’s the engine. The Hornet is just a hotter version of this bike.

I really like the KTM six LED headlamp with DRLs around the top edge. I like the look and the central metal spine heatsink for the LEDs. I like orange wheels. I liked the silver coloured Aluminium seat frame of the Duke 790 that then got painted in matt grey and black as paint scheme updates progressed and in orange on the 890 GP.

I'd agree with the post that says this 750 looks like the CB500F. Makes me wonder why they didn't reference the original CB750 instead of the Hornet. The website pictures shows youngsters for whom the Hornet reference wouldn't mean anything. TBH I found the whole website imagery and marketing text almost as cringey as the Triumph Bobber racing in a warehouse hipster video.

In Toyota Carina mode this motorcycle should work fine as a tool and ownership proposition but it's not generating any desire or passion with me. Neeves could say it's as good on the road as the CB500X but it looks so boring. It's coming across as more inoffensive and sensible shoes than the SV-650. Looks wise it's that bland and inoffensive it makes the SV-650 look interesting. The Suzuki comes with 3 years warranty against Honda's two too.

I'd like to think my licence may be safer on this 750 Hornet than a 790 or 890 Duke. I really like the sound of the 790s I've ridden and the torque.

It seems from the photos to be on Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres? If someone could correct me if I am wrong on that.

The looks seem to be the biggest issue for most people. I keep looking at photos of the bike and I think the best word to describe it is bland, rather than ugly. The Mk2 Hornet wasn't a pretty bike in the way the original was (all in my opinion of course and I owned an original mk1 hornet in blue). Will wait to read the road tests and see it in the metal but assuming it rides well people may well put up with bland looks for the value for money offered. It's only £900 more than a CB500F and cheaper than all it's main competitors.

the MT-07 has been one of the best selling bikes in Europe over the last few years and in my opinion the front end looks bloody awful! Some photos below.

I'm currently in the market for a new bike. Don't need 200hp, just something fun and reliable. Nearly bought an SV over summer but wanted something more modern. This looks absolutely ideal! Not sure on the looks but I think most bikes look a bit rubbish these days and it's not offensively ugly. I can definitely see myself buying one.

Not sure what all the uproar over the name is about... Reminds me of the 'R7' grumblings. It's all well and good saying it should be a 4cyl but Honda already do one in the cb650, and I've not seen a review that didn't mention the lack of low down grunt and relatively un-characterful engine compared to its twin cylinder rivals. Didn't the original Hornet used to get about 30mpg too!?

Geez the 600s must be gutless. I average about 45-50mpg on my 900

How does low mpg mean gutless? 600 hornet is far from gutless, quite a quick bike for a 600 naked even by todays standards. Ironically it was the 900 I'd always heard was gutless....

Because it means you have to use a lot of revs, whereas on the 900 you can use the torque instead.

I was thinking of a buying a Yam MT09, but the new headlight looks fking totally utterly awful, & now the MT07 appears to have gone all ugly as well. What are Yamaha thinking??
I'll definitely test ride a Hornet, although as others have mentioned, its a little bland looking. I would prefer it if it had gold wheels.....

There are few good looking, modern looking naked bikes in the segment. Perhaps only the Trident. Even the Monster has turned into the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Ahem, the Husky 701 Svartpilen.
But, yeah, I am biased on this one!

I will give you that one. I hope they release an update soon. Assuming it will have the 890 twin.

I thought the 600 hornet was gutless, you could open the throttle wide anywhere and it would do very little most of the time, maybe I have been spoiled by litre bikes but it felt much slower than my Fazer 600 until about 9000 revs then it did feel fast at the very top of the rev range, I didn't (and still don't) see what all the fuss was about, it was a budget middleweight, and slightly above average, I guess some owners don't like their bikes being critiqued by others.

I'd agree that a lot of modern middleweight naked bikes are seriously fugly, there's very little that tempts me and I'm in the market for one.

They need to put the CB125M into production. Brilliant looking thing.
