Just to add a slightly different perspective.
Stone chips add "patina", they show it's been used (not abused!). They are part of the the life story of the item.
Of course, you want to keep things looking nice and you should abosolutely try and protect it and look after it, but if it's being used, it is going to acquire patina, and that is not a bad thing, it adds character and makes it an individual item that cannot be replicated.
