Were your fingers okay? If so, it suggests the gloves did their job - so I guess then it's a question of how well they should hold up to repeated accidents. Helmets for instance I thought you had to replace after virtually any significant tap? Saying that, I've RST gloves that are 17 years old (though do need replacing now) so an expectation of them being useable after one off isn't unreasonable.

The OP clearly stated "Racer 1927". I have a pair of "Racer" gloves and they are golden. Different company.

As for my fingers, not a scratch. Not sure how they escaped injury given the size of the hole in the gloves.

I think the main issue is the use of a hybrid leather / fabric finger tip with the seam almost on the tip of the finger.

I'll replace them with RST heated gloves as they make their leather kit properly.
