The new Hornet is growing on me.

I'm at the very start of things, currently going for my full licesne and have my MOD1 in a couple of weeks. My first bike will likely be something much older and cheaper but i can still keep up to date with new stuff.

The Hornet does seem to be getting a lot of praise. Bit of a goldilocks bike, as you say.

I also would go for the grey or maybe yellow/black. The bike frame doesn't look right.

I think the Suzuki 8S is probably a better looking bike.

But i've only driven a 1999 Fazer 600 and 2008 CBF600 so far, nothing remotely new or fancy.

There are several Facebook groups and lots of people having been waiting for bikes, they seem incredibly popular. I don't think honda help the dealers with info by the sounds of it.

And lots of people who love their bikes. A few people doing some touring and finding the bike ok which surprised me.

A few problems with quickshifters, that unscrew themselves! Ton do withdealer installation and can be fixed with thread lock.

Hopefully it'll be worth the wait. Price increase coming in October apparently.

O/T - 44 Teeth Fagan video on racing the F900R at Brands Hatch says Junior Superstocks to be replaced with Supertwins which will include the Hornet but power to be capped at 95bhp.

If they've already sold like hot cakes will Hornets being raced in Supertwins further boost sales? The 95bhp limit is aligned to the A2 compatible restriction limit so the Duke 790s will be racing with the Hornet and GSX-8S?

I wanted a Hornet but like the SV650 it's just too small for me. No I'm not a giant, I'm only 6ft2 but alot of Japanese bikes (naked) seem to be made for circa 5ft6?

I'm really surprised more manufacturers don't offer different seat options for their bikes. I'm only 5' 8" and even I find some bikes a little cramped. I had a test ride on an SV650 and had both feet flat on the ground with a decent bend in my leg.

Bennetts have just uploaded an hour mega video with the Hornet, MT07, GSX 8S, and the 790 Duke.

Mine shipped today. Had 7th Sept booked off work, so hopefully should be picking up then!

My insurance company say the official honda accessories "Sport pack" (quick shifter, seat cowl, fly screen and pegs) are a modification, and the underwriters might not insure it.

Smells like bullst... They are off the options list albeit fitted at the dealer not the factory.

These are not my pics, were shared on a Facebook group... The best colour I think!

These look good to me, and it's no surprise that a price increase is incoming as it seems to be a tool for the manufacturer to get strong sales figures on launch.

Bike design has slowed massively in the last 10 years which is why they all start looking like each other.

Picked up today. Only got 50 miles in, but I think I will like this bike once it's run in!! Got a feeling it will want to be revved.

I got the sports pack (seat cowl, different pegs, fly screen and quickshifter), heated grips, and R&G bungs and bobbins on the swingarm.

Trying to keep under 5k RPM as advised by the dealer, but the manual basically says just take it easy and no full bore starts, or smashing down through the box for 300 miles.

Glade - any updates? The bike does look good! I've seen a couple out in the wild now and i'm finding i don't mind the looks.

I think it was the models with the red frame that put me off. I like the grey/black and yellow/black. Meant to be a cracking bike really.

Since i last posted on this thread, i passed my test and now have a 2011 Gladius which i'm enjoying as a first bike. I know they dont have the best rep but they are essentially a SV in a slightly silly frock.

Anyway....i find i am very much looking for the 'next bike' (that probably will never not be the case)

I have just got back from a 1250mile tour.

The bike was great! I didn't suffer a sore arse or from the wind. However I do feel the rear suspension is budget. I think it's the bike's weak point.

I could have more power, but it has enough. As a commuter or short weekend blast it's a great bike.

I'll hang onto it until it's nearly 3 years old, then chop it in for one of the mid sized touring bikes with better suspension for comfort on bumpy B-roads i think.

Put a Nitron R1 on it. Enjoy it properly for the next 3 years. Then take it off when you sell it, and get half your money back. I’m deeply impressed with the one I’ve just put on my Ducati.
