Your first and last bike photos

The 'Then and Now' thread caused me to find the first photo of myself on a bike and the last photo taken of me perched on a bike. I've been through a bit of an evolution. How about you?

Struggle for any of me on them, as it's usuaully me taking the photo, but these are my first and last of mine. Will have to remedy this in the future.

I Didn't have camera in the 80s and had numerous small bikes as a teenager; RG125, KX125, RS125, CD200, DT175 but my first new bike was a ZZR600 in 1990



and the last bike purchased a few years ago, a Triumph Trophy SE

I don't have a picture of my first bike (Honda CD175), and this is the only pic I have of my second, an RD250A in 1979.


This is my last purchase, a 1982 Triumph, which shares a garage with an MZ and a KTM 1290GT

DT50MX, though that was before I could legally ride it at 15yo. Infact thinking back, I had a couple before that we used to track.

The bike I learnt to ride and my dad got for me (for him really), 1962 250cc Greeves Scottish. I was 13 in this picture I think and going through my "emo" phase

First one, must have been around late summer 2006. Getting on for 17 and finally decided to do a CBT and get a bike. Had this 2000 Aprilia RS50 for about 6 months or so (before I upgraded to an RS125). Never caused me any issue apart from carb icing. Guy I sold it two got T Boned shortly after and it was written off.



Latest picture of me on a bike. Must have been about 18 months or so ago on my CBF500 heading towards Whiteways I think. Still have it and will probably never get rid.

First bike was a new 81 Suzuki GS250T, no pic of that, second was a 83 Kawasaki Z750L3.. had it twenty years, did 170,000 miles on it, with only usual maintenance.

Most recent bike I bought 3 weeks ago.. makes 11 I currently own.. too many really.

Well then, this is me on my first bike, and not just the first photo, but I think the only photo of me on it. In the pre-digital age not too many photos were taken. So it’s in 1973 and my Honda SS50 (derestricted, of course ).



I’ve loads of more recent photos, but they’re mostly bike and not me. So this is the actual latest photo taken of me and the bike, from a couple of weeks back near the Col D’Aspin in the Pyrenees.



So 51 years between photos! Bloody hell, where’s it all gone.

I did actually do a round trip tour of Scotland on the SS50 in ‘73 so from small acorns, mighty oaks and all that. Jaunt I’m just back from on the Chief (39 x the capacity of the SS50!) was 4000+ miles in 19 days.

I doubt I’d even countenance being a bloody OAP as a young lad, let alone still be riding 51 years on.
