So all I need to do is get over to the continent and buy one and drop it into my 3 series - now that would be an M3 beater! Hmm interesting

and it'd be totally socially irresponsible.... If it you can pro-rata the power/torque from the 3 litre (with a chip), then you're looking at 340hp and 550 lbft. Gotta be done!

Now where's that shoe horn?

Maybe £45k if you pay someone to do it for you - I've done engine conversions before and they're not that difficult (and its a diseasal anyway). As I said, if its chipped (I know a man who can), 350 horse and ooodles of grunt.

They put the M5 engine into the 3 series - cost around £45k

Bargain!
IMO I would stick to a "pure" Beemer instead of wandering in something with virtually no resale value...

Would this be the ultimate track-day diesel?? Hmmmm Re-sale is not an issue

If you can get a V8 in a moggie, then a V8 into a 3 series has got be be a goer.... Wheres your spirit of adventure?? Mind you, another turbo - hmmmm, why bother on an I6?? V6 I can understand, I6 whats the benefit?
