As I need to replace 4 tyres (BMW 328, 1996) I was thinking about buying new wheels as well.

Currently I have 225/50/16 on the car. Looking about I have seen rims with 215/45/17 tyres.

Is it safe to change to this size, would I experience much difference in handling?

Thanks.

Have a play with this very handy tyre size calculator. The aim of the game is to get the circumference and revs/mile of the new size as close as possible to the original size!

225/45/R17 seems about as close as you can get on a 17 unless you want to try 285/35R17! No? Thought not

I think thats whats on the back of racedads motor You deffinatly don't want to go there, don't expect any change out of £200 a tyre
Rememeber 18's will go on without any problems, and prices are coming down to not much more than 17's money, Then theres 19's
