Hi guys. I am looking to replace the wheels on my E34 540i. The tyres are getting marginal so I thought I'd take the opportunity to scout around and see if I could get a good deal on some new alloys.

2nd hand would be perfect, preferably Alpina's but would look at anything within reason. I dont really want to have to bother with offsets etc so I guess 17" or possibly 18" are my limit.

Anyone got any ideas or outlets?

E38 7 series wheels will fit without offsets, although the general wisdom seems to be that the 7's tyres are a bigger rolling diameter than the 5's, so it's not a completely straight swap as you'll need new rubber.

But in terms of smarter wheels for the 5, it may be that someone's 7 series cast-offs will make a great upgrade.

Having said that, I haven't found any good deals myself yet...

Get thee to Ebay, I got a mint set of E46 3 series 7 spokes with excellent tyres for £250, can't complain at that!

Cheers,
Rob

Cheers guys.

Does anyone know what size I can get without needing to modify arches etc? I really dont want the hassle of that

Ideally I just want to straight swop them and forget about it. If I need to get lower profile tyres then so be it but a straight swop is a clear winner.

Just for anyone who may be interested. I have found this place in Southend. They do deliveries too and have rave reviews on Ebay. Looks to be some very good deals there....
