Some of you may remember me pestering you a couple of months ago about the need for a luxury diesel motorway cruiser that could do galactic miles.

Well, after a lot of looking, I travelled from Manchester to Brighton on Friday to pick up a 98, 525 TDS SE in Aspen Silver with silver grey leather.

What a lovely, LOVELY car Absolutely mint, drives like a dream and gets 36 to the gallon on a run and one of the best looking estate cars on the market.

Thanks to all who gave advice and a big cheers to Scoobz for the extra info.

So you managed to get yourself into a new shape & a Touring to Boot (or not as the case maybe ), well played.

Excellent 'sensible' choice of transport!

So true. I do especially like them with black steel wheels

Yep... figured that for a few grand extra, if i was going to drive it for another two or three years, I might aswell go for something that gives me pleasure every time I look at it. Apparently the newer shape is a big step up in every way from what was already a very capable performer. i love it

... though "sensible"... No. Sensible would have been a Golf TDi but what the hell... uber-cruisers rule

In my experience you'd have paid damn near the same money for a Golf 1.9 GT TDi!

Sensible was in ' ' LOL as in 5dr's, lots of room, diesel!
